résolution 1680x1050 écran plat sur portable dellX1 (i810)

Je n'ai toujours pas réussi à avoir la résolution native sur un écran externe (Acer AL2216W) connecté sur le port VGA d'un portable Dell Latitude X1.
J'arrive à configurer un dual desktop et la résolution du portable est la bonne (1280x768).
Par contre, je n'arrive pas à avoir mieux que 1024x768 sur l'écran externe.

J'ai installé 915resolution
puis modifier le fichier rc.local pour disposer de la résolution 1680x1050.

Je précise que je suis sous edgy et que je n'utilise pas beryl pour l'instant (beryl fonctionne parfaitement).
Je me demande si l'ordre indiqué dans 915resolution a une importance ?
1680x1050 en 5a au lieu de 5c ???

Si vous avez des pistes, je vous en remercie car je crois avoir épuiser les fils de discussions des forums en français.

J'envisage très nettement l'achat d'un écran wide, en 1680x1050... Il y a des promos assez intéressantes pour le moment. J'aurais voulu savoir si tu avais réussi à régler ton problème d'affichage car je dispose du même chipset et je risque bien d'être confronté au même problème... La modification de xorg.conf et de rc.local suffit-elle ?
