[résolu] Compilation du kernel
Bonjour tlm.
Voilà , j'ai un gros pbl... j'installe ubuntu sur une carte mère Asus P5GDC, laquelle a un controleur it8212 ide/raid, que ubuntu ne gère pas, et surtout dont le driver officiel du site ne peut pas marcher sur le kernel 2.6.10 (selon ceci). En revanche je sais que ce controleur est supporté par le patch Alan Cox qu'on trouve sur http://kernel.org.
Par conséquent il me faut compiler un kernel utilisant ce patch. Et au demeurant, je suis obligé d'utiliser pour ça le kernel de kernel.org: si je l'applique sur les sources de ubuntu (apt-get linux-source-2.6.10) je choppe un kernel panic. Au début j'ai réussi à patcher le kernel générique une fois et à le compiler (avec la méthode make-kpkg), à relancer la machine et ça marchait; ensuite j'ai reessayé (pour changer d'autres options du kernel), et ça n'a pas marché: en gros, dans tous les cas, avec ou sans controleur activé dans le bios, si je compile le kernel générique , dès que je boot voilà ce qui se passe:

... ya au moins une vingtaine de lignes comme ça. Ensuite, s'ensuit une suite d'autres erreures (qui elles apparaissent dans le /var/log/kern.log, alors que pas les précédentes; j'en profite pour copier le log entier du démarrage: les erreurs sont celles avec device-mapper au milieu):

Je suis vraiment perdu; j'ai essayé de compiler toutes les façon possibles, sans controleur ou avec, avec ou sans patch et impossible de compiler un kernel qui ne fasse pas ça, dès lors que j'utilise un kernel générique (i.e. de kernel.org)...
En gros il me faudrait :
1 soit une méthode pour compiler le kernel générique sans avoir cette suite d'erreur
2 soit une méthode pour intégrer le patch -ac (Alan Cox) sur les sources du kernel ubuntu sans me prendre un kernel panic
3 soit une méthode pour compiler un module pour mon noyau à partir des sources du kernel patché mais sans recompiler le noyau
Bref ... je m'amuse Si quelqu'un a une idée ... merci beaucoup : )

En fait oui, j'ai lu ce document (une grande partie dur web sur le sujet en fait). Il a contribué à me permettre de régler le problème.
Il faut dire que je partait de loin j'ai du pêle-mêle apprendre un compiler un kernel proprement, appliquer des patchs et les bons, etc etc. Finalement tout marche.
J'ajoute, au cas où quelqu'un aurait les problèmes, que ce qui m'empêchait de faire les choses comme il faut c'était le choix des options dans le kernel (j'avais pas compilé dans le kernel tout le nécessaire mais en module); du coup j'utilisais un initrd qui n'était lui même pas utilisé correctement...
Bref la solution est toute simple
- utiliser un kernel vanilla, appliquer le patch -ac
- choisir ___toutes___ les options nécessaires au boot compilées en dur dans le kernel (supports IDE, disque dur ATA, les systèmes de fichier de la partition racine ou de boot)
- méthode qui marche nickel pour la compilation : make, make modules_install, make install
Mais une fois que ça marche ça semble toujours plus simple...
