Problème avec drivers nvidia

Bonjour,
J'ai récemment installé un portable (dell inspiron 8200) avec une ubuntu 6.06 et en suivant la démarche pour l'utilisation des drivers nvidia (j'ai une sortie tv que j'aimerais utiliser) (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/nvidia) je me retrouve avec un fond d'écran plus petit que mon écran réél. C'est-à-dire qu'à droite de mon écran j'ai des lignes verticales de toutes les couleurs (très joli mais pas très utile) et en bas de mon écran gnome se répète.
J'ai cherché sur plusieurs forum sans succès il semblerait que les autres utilisateurs d'ubuntu et de mon portable n'aient pas le même problème que moi...

J'ai eu le même genre de problème avec une GeForce4 420 sur un portable Toshiba. Je ne sais pas si cela pourra t'aider mais pour régler ce problème, j'ai rajouté ces lignes :
  Dans la section Device :
     

  
        Option       "NoDDC" "1"
        Option       "IgnoreEDID" "1"
        Option    "DigitalVibrance" "0"

Dans la section Screen :

Par contre, j'ai les drivers legacy mais tu peux toujours essayer.

Merci beaucoup pour ta réponse rapide Eupythal.
Malheureusement cela n'a pas fonctionné. (exactement le même résultat qu'avant)
J'ai mal aux dents de devoir encore utiliser windows pour regarder un dvd sur ma télé au fin fond de cette Andalousie mais pour l'instant j'ai pas trop le choix...

Je continue ma quête.

Désolé que cela n'aie pas marché.
Par contre si tu as installé les derniers drivers nvidia et non les legacy je crois, d'après les recherches que j'avais faites qu'il faut commenter la ligne 

#load dri

dans ton Xorg.
Bon courage pour tes recherches. Il y a pleins de topic à ce sujet, je suis sûr que tu finiras par trouver le bonn et peut-être que quelqu'un d'autre de plus calé que moi passera.

Bonjour,

j'avais le même problème que toi sur un Dell c840 Geforce 4 440 Go (lignes à droite et écran qui se répete en bas...). Après avoir cherché un bon moment, j'ai tenté ce post et maintenant ça fonctionne !!!

ParContre comme l'ami Eupythal, j'ai fini par installer le driver nvidia officiel (y'a une doc qqpart).

Si ça peut t'aider, voici mon xorg.conf :
