Xubuntu, TRES lent

Bonjour.
Je vois que j'ai déjà posé la question voici 10 ans. Les machines changent. Le pb revient...

LE PROBLEME

Plus de 2 mn après l'allumage pour pouvoir commencer à bosser
Des temps de changement d'application  ou de chargement de page internet qui donnent le temps du boire du café quasi en continu, le temps que ça charge.
GIMP qui se ferme tout seul quand il a trop bossé
Un ventilateur qui peine à refroidir le bazar, de sorte que parfois, le PC s'éteint

Hello,

avant d'explorer des pistes « logicielles » que sais-tu d'autres de cette machine d'un point de vue matériel :
⋅ son âge,
⋅ son ou ses disques ( mécanique, ssd, état… )
⋅ sa « propreté » : poussières, circulation d'air obstruée,
⋅ pâte thermique d'origine ?
⋅ présence d'une carte graphique dédiée ou intégrée,
⋅ quantité de RAM disponible…

…car ce que tu décris ressemble assez à un processeur qu'a chaud, entre autres.

Des couacs matériels pourront apparaître dans le retour de :

sudo dmesg | grep -Ei "erro|warn"          # sudo pas nécessaire sur ×buntu antérieure à 22.04

et

echo ; lsb_release -dcs; uname -srpi; echo $DESKTOP_SESSION sous $XDG_SESSION_TYPE parmi :; ls /usr/share/xsessions

donnera des infos sur ton système ( o.s, version, noyau, env. de bureau, serveur graphique ).

En toute logique, sudo n'est pas nécessaire indispensable pour une commande purement informative, qui n'impacte pas de fichier système. Par exemple, pour mount il faut utiliser sudo, sauf pour

mount -l

qui ne fait que donner la liste des partitions montées, sans y toucher.
A priori, dmesg ne modifie pas de fichier système et sudo serait alors superflu, mais il peut y avoir des particularités qui justifieraient son emploi (je ne vois pas lesquelles, mais dans le doute ...)

En effet, coeur noir, mon PC n'est pas jeune,( Un probook 6540B; 4 Go de RAM d' occasion achetée il y a des années à une entreprise qui renouvelait son parc) et un peu à l'étroit dans sa ram.
Un processeur qui a chaud ? Je crois très certainement !!!

D'après crucial, la ram peut être montée à 8Go. Pas sur que ça résoudrait ton problème, mais c'est toujours bon à savoir. Il serait aussi possible, d'après ce même site, de passer le disque en SSD (là ça devrait vraiment booster le système, à toi de voir si le jeu en vaut la chandelle)
Dans un premier temps, un bon dépoussiérage pourrait améliorer les performances, en attendant un "hard upgrade".

[Edit] En cas de changement de DD, l'ancien peut toujours être utilisé en externe via un boitier usb [/Edit]

la commande

sudo lshw -sanitize

te permet de voir quelle version du BIOS est en service actuellement .

Ensuite , il faut se rendre sur le site du constructeur de la carte mere , puis verifier qi il propose un version plus recente du BIOS que celle installée dans ta carte mere .

bien suivre la procedure du constructeur pour effectuer la mise a jour et une fois lancée , ne surtout pas l' interrompre volontairement ou involontairement ( coupure de courant notamment ) .

cependant , ce n ' est pas tres clair pour moi , les versions n ' ont pas de numero qui se suivent et ta version n ' y apparait pas .

En effet c'est pas pile poil :-).
Je vois qu'au mieux je pourrais installer un bios de 2015.

Quand je lis qu'un fausse manip peut tuer la carte mère ... je me dis que je vais plutôt aller acheter un petit tournevis et voir comment c'est sale en dedans

Le PC chauffe tellement  (disque dur compris) que je ne peux pas le tenir sur les genoux.

Alors , pour info , le BIOS , ce n' est pas comme un logiciel standard ( il ne peut pas evoluer avec le temps , pas de nouvelle fonctionnalité vu que la carte mere n ' evolue pas ) .
A la sortie de la carte mere , il y a un BIOS nous dirons " d' origine " qui comporte plein de bugs comme tout logiciel .
Au fur et a mesure que les cartes sont utilisées , les bugs remontent et sont corrigés et donc de nouveau BIOS voient le jour et bien sur surtout au debut de sa sortie .
Au plus le temps passe et au moins il y a de bug et donc au moins il y a de nouveau BIOS .

Une carte mere relativemment ancienne aura donc un BIOS relativement ancien et c ' est une tres bonne chose , cela veut dire qu ' il ne comporte plus de bug big_smile .

A l' inverse , lorsqu ' on achete une carte mere tres recente , il se peut qu ' un nouveau BIOS sortent tous les 15 jours , au fil des corrections de bugs .

la seule chose qui peut rendre la ROM inutilisable ( la ou est stocké le BIOS ) et donc la carte mere inutilisable , c ' est si l ' alimentation electrique de l' ordinateur est coupée durant l' ecriture du nouveau BIOS sur la ROM pour une raison ou une autre .

les programmes BIOS sont ecrits de sortent que l' utilisateur soit protégé au maximum : il controle le modele de carte mere , le modele de ROM , la version du BIOS en place dans la ROM, et , siquelquechose n' est pas conforme , il est impossible de lancer la mise a jour , ce sera forcement refusé .

Mais bien sûr !!! LA carte physique n'évolue plus. Evidemment que quand tus les bugs sont trouvés, on est sur du stable.

Logiciel et matériel, c'est pas la même logique ;-) )

dmesg EST un fichier système dont la consultation directe n'est plus possible sous 22.04 par un utilisateur « normal. »
L'idée étant plutôt d'utiliser journalctl pour voir les « logs » ( dont je n'ai pas encore appris les options et astuces, donc je m'en tiens à ce que je sais faire avec dmesg pour l'instant. )

En tout cas : processeur(s) qui chauffe(nt) = ralentissement, voire blocage de la machine.

Règle déjà ce problème par un nettoyage / dépoussiérage des entrailles et le remplacement de la pâte thermique - surtout si cela n'a jamais été fait sur cette machine.

Ensuite, une fois l'aspect matériel amélioré ou résolu, tu pourras enquêter sur l'aspect logiciel.

Merci de ces précisions, je trouve cependant bizarre qu'une commande n'impactant pas de fichiers système exige sudo pour fonctionner. Mais bon, dans l'ensemble, même si ce n'est pas logique, ce n'est pas trop gênant, surtout qu'un message d'erreur doit informer  l'utilisateur du format correct.

Lors du démontage justifié pour un dépoussiérage efficace, on peut toujours noter les références de la ram et du disque pour un éventuel "hard upgrade" proposé en #7

Comme tu l'as vu, la réponse de dmesg est plutôt longue, c'est pour ça que je proposai un premier « tri » qui n'en montrerait que les lignes contenant des avertissements ou des erreurs :

L'hypothèse d'un ralentissement consécutif à une surchauffe causée par une accumulation de poussière me semble parfaitement logique et facile à résoudre, il va donc falloir d'abord effectuer ce nettoyage avant de poursuivre.
