fait mais soit il a fini très vite, soit il y a un souci mais ce coup-ci

ne montre pas d'évolution

sudo smartctl -q errorsonly -H -l selftest /dev/sdb

ne rend rien

Il y a quelque chose que je ne comprends pas, mais ce n'est pas grave.
Je pensais avoir donné une commande qui ne testait que la moitié du disque.  il est possible que les unités soient devenues 1024 au lieu de 512

On constate qu'aucun secteur n'est actuellement  illisible et qu'il n'y a aucun test en attente.

Ok merci, du coup tu penses que je peux continuer à utiliser ce vénérable dd ? Je peux envisager de mettre mon home dessus et donc d'avoir plus de place sur mon SSD pour les logiciels ? J'ai de toute façon une synchro de mes documents persos avec mon NAS qui a deux DD en raid 1.

Si tu sécurises bien tes données ailleurs, au lieu de mettre le répertoire home dans ce disque, tu peux y mettre seulement tes données personnelles. C'est assez facile.
Une bonne idée: Mettre l'étiquette data à la partition peut permettre de faire une ligne de commande mettant  à jour le fichier /etc/fstab

On monte le disque au démarrage -gnome disk utility     qui met à jour /etc/fstab
On  transfert les données.
On fait des liens
