[Résolu] Installation UEFI + UEFI LEGACY
Questionnement sur UEFI
j'aurais voulu pouvoir tester Ubuntu en mode UEFI que je ne connais pas
j'ai donc essayé de comprendre la doc mais je ne suis pas sur d'avoir tout compris
actuellement je n'ai que des linux non uefi installés
ma question :
puis-je installer ubuntu sur un disque "dédié" à ubuntu UEFI tout en conservant mes autres OS sur les autres disques ?

À partir du moment où le bios sait gérer en simultané des démarrages uefi ou pas et qu'on est bien sur un disque dur dédié pourquoi pas mais bon ce n'est pas très recommandé quand même...
Pourquoi cette demande/ce besoin ? Tu veux voir quoi comme différence ?

Aucun bios à ma connaissance ne gère les boot uefi/non-uefi en simultané.
C'est l'un ou l'autre mode.

Aucun bios à ma connaissance ne gère les boot uefi/non-uefi en simultané.
C'est l'un ou l'autre mode.
faux... enfin plus ou moins... il est tout à fait possible que dans la séquence de démarrage le bios puisse avoir en plus de l'ordre de boot uefi ou legacy une option en amont qui puisse donner aussi un ordre entre ces deux mode... et c'est à ça que je faisais allusion mais j'avoue que j'ai voulu chercher tout-à-l'heure un screenshot pour donner une idée du truc sans trouver rapidement mon bonheur donc j'ai laissé tomber

choix 7 Hard Disk Samsung SSD (les disques qui ne sont pas uefi)

et cet ordre est modifiable par menu ce qui voudrait dire que si je passe
Hard Disk en choix 1 , le système bootera dessus en priorité
et bien sur j'ai aussi un menu Boot Hard Disk Drive BBS Priorities

C'est exactement à ça que je faisais allusion... Sauf que attention à comment tu va le gérer si tu ne peux pas complétement désactiver certaines options de boot : en toute logique tu ne peux pas faire passer le 7 en seconde position... Pour être plus exacte dans mes propos tout ton trafic n'est "switchable" que grâce au menu de boot rapide car les 2 GRUB ne pourront pas se voir... Par contre je serais bien curieux de savoir si une fois lancé tu arrives à accéder aux partitions des disques qui sont dans l'autre mode...

Hum... Du coup pour démarrer soit l'un soit l'autre de tes disques c'est plutôt ce menu là qu'il faudrait que tu utilises si tu l'as en boot menu

je m'aperçois je n'ai plus d'alim pour le disque supplémentaire que je veux installer , il me faudrait soit un adaptateur Molex/Sata soit un doubleur et en ce moment pas facile à se procurer
je vais être obligé de bidouiller
les 2 GRUB ne pourront pas se voir
ça ca m'embête un peu quoique non rédhibitoire

Quant au reste je te rappelle que tu veux jouer avec 2 modes d'installation différents et non compatible entre eux* donc ce que je t'ai dit n'est que pur logique...
* : La seule chose qui fait que chez toi ça marchera je te rappelle que c'est parce-que tu es sur 2 disques différents

c'est ce que j'ai fait
j'ai installé et ça marche
installation sur le disque ( réservé à cet OS UEFI)
j'avais pris la précaution de débrancher tous les autres disques (je suis quand même prudent)
puis rebranchement de mes autres disques
reboot ( le boot se fait sur le disque UEFI ) ce qui parait logique d'après l'organisation de mon BIOS
sudo update-grub
la mise à jour se fait correctement et me trouve tous les OS des autres disques
AH NON il ne me trouve pas les window XP (dont je ne me sert plus) !!!!!!

au reboot je choisis dans le grub donc ma version "normale non efi" 18.04 qui se lance , à l'écran j'ai cru voir un message concernant efi mais je n'ai pas eu le temps de le lire

Bonjour.
Chez moi. Sur une machine qui permet le démarrage en UEFI et Bios_Legacy.
Le SSD interne a une table de partition de type MSDos.
Un Windows 7 (/dev/sda1)
Un Ubuntu 14.04 (/dev/sda2) en 32 bits
Un Ubuntu 18.04 (/dev/sda3). en 64 Bits
Par curiosité, j'ai voulu tester les installations en mode UEFI. J'ai donc utilisé une clé USB de tests. (/dev/sdb).
Mais comme à un moment dans les sujets du forum, on parlait de démarrage dans les deux modes, j'ai testé la possibilité de le faire.
Alors j'ai installé deux Ubuntu.
Sur la clé /dev/sdb, avec table de partition de type GPT.
/dev/sdb1;Une partition format FAT32, drapeau boot-esp pour pouvoir installer en mode UEFI et démarrer dans ce mode.
/dev/sdb2; Une partition sans format drapeau bios-grub, pour pouvoir installer et démarrer en mode Bios_Legacy.
/dev/sdb3; installation d'un Xubuntu 14.04 64 Bits en mode UEFI, utilisant la partition boot-esp /dev/sdb1 pour démarrer en mode UEFI
/dev/sdb4; installation d'un Ubuntu 18.04 en Bios Legacy, utilisant la partition bios-grub /dev/sdb2, pour démarrer en mode Bios_Legacy.
Pour voir si le Ubuntu installé en mode UEFI /dev/sdb3 était capable aussi de démarrer en mode Bios_Legacy.
Avec boot-repair en session live lancée en mode Bios_Legacy, réinstallation d'un Grub-pc (legacy) dans ce Ubuntu.
Le Ubuntu /dev/sdb3 est donc capable de démarrer en mode UEFI et Bios_Legacy.
Alors comme je suis curieux, j'ai donc observé que tous les Os de la config étaient présents dans les menus grub en mode Bios_Legacy et UEFI.
J'ai donc tenté en démarrant depuis la clé de tests en mode UEFI, depuis le menu grub du Ubuntu installé en Mode UEFI en /dev/sdb3, de lancer le Ubuntu 14.04 en 32 Bits installé sur le SSD en /dev/sda2 . il démarre dans ce mode, j'ai fais un boot-info, dont le contenu suit;

Vous vous compliquez tellement la vie que je n'ai rien compris... Tu peux résumer ? T'es entrain de dire que le multiboot dans les 2 modes est aussi valable sur un seul et même disque à partir du moment où le bios le gère aussi ?

Autre possibilité qui concerne le boot en mode bios :
Installer la première partie de grub-pc dans le mbr du disque de boot (boot.img)
Installer diskboot.img (le chargeur de core.img) dans un autre disque.
Ceci est possible car on trouve dans le mbr à l'offset 5c la LBA de diskboot.img (01 pour disque msdos ou emplacement de bios_boot pour disque gpt) mais aussi parce qu'il reste la possibilité de charger diskboot.img sur un autre disque que le disque de boot, comparaison de l'offset 64h (de mémoire) avec la valeur FFh :
- si la valeur en 64h est FFh alors c'est dans le disque de boot (donc dans le même que boot.img)
- si la valeur est 80h, alors chargement dans le premier disque détecté
- si la valeur est 81h, alors chargement dans le deuxième disque détecté
- si la valeur est 82h, alors chargement dans le troisième disque détecté...
Les options d'installation ne permettent pas cette bidouille mais cette possibilité est présente dans le code - il suffit de modifier l'octet en question avec un éditeur hexa

dmesg sur ce disque me fait gagner 5 secondes par rapport à non uefi

le grub du disque EFI m'a permis de lancerun OS non UEFI d'un autre disque
je n'ai pas encore fait l'inverse , mais ça va venir ...
je constate que le grub possède ce menu qui n'existe pas en non UEFI ou alors je ne l'ai pas remarqué
ce menuentry lance le menu du BIOS !!!! bien pratique (mais peut-être dangereux ?)

Bonjour Qid.
En période de confinement, bidouiller les ordinateurs, et participer a des sujets du forum, aide pas mal à passer le temps, non?.
Le test que j'ai fais sur la clé USB, peut très bien être fait en instalation sur le SSD interne de la machine, mais il faut tout réinstaller.
Sur mon SSD, il y a aussi un Windows7 installé en mode Bios_Legacy. Lui ne démarre que lorsque la machine est démarrée en mode Bios_Legacy, soit depuis le SSD, soit depuis la clé de tests. En mode UEFI, il ne démarre pas ce qui est normal.

bon voila : j'ai booter sur mon disque non EFI , mis à jour le grub
le grub me trouve bien l'OS UEFI et je l'ai lancé et c'est bon
remarque ce grub "non UEFI" m'a retrouvé mes OS Windows XP que le grub de UEFI n'avait pas trouvés
En mode UEFI, il [window7] ne démarre pas ce qui est normal.
c'est peut-être pour ça que XP n'est pas détecté en UEFI ?
me reste maintenant à demander au bios de bboter par défaut sur le disque non UEFI puisque c'est ma version "normale" de travail
(j'espère que c'est possible)

Si ton bios ne veut pas, il reste la possibilité d'implanter du code dans le "mbr protector" d'un disque gpt (même si celui ci est destiné au boot uefi), de démarrer en mode bios sur ce disque et de bidouiller l'octet à l'offset 64h pour lui dire de poursuivre le chargement avec le diskboot et core.img du disque qui t'intéresse

oups la ça fait un bail que j'ai étudié le 8086 et les instructions 80186 80386 etc !!!
je ne réussis pas à changer l'ordre de boot du HD UEFI (mais je pense que c'est possible et que je ne sais pas faire)
par contre j'ai désactivé le choix 1, ce qui fait booter sur le choix 7 (Hard Disk Sam...) et me satisfait (je ne comprends d'ailleurs pas le choix 3 UEFI Hard Disk !)
l'ordre n'est pas modifiable !!
