Temps de boot ubuntu 18.04, quelques services longs à démarrer ?
Bonjour tout le monde !
Je viens de passer à ubuntu 18.04: il me semblait que le temps de boot était un des chevaux de bataille de cette version, mais je trouve le pc un peu lent à démarrer.
Il s'agit d'un XPS13 ubuntu, fraichement reçu et aussitot upgradé à bionic beaver :-)
voici les infos que j'ai pu glaner:

Ca me donne le détail de la partie "userspace", mais rien sur la partie kernell !
J'ai 2 questions si quelqu'un a des idées ?
- comment puis je améliorer un peu la partie userspace (apt-get update / fstrim.service) ?
- comment avoir le détail du kernell pour voir si quelque chose traine un peu trop là dedans ?

Bonjour, avant de bricoler l'amélioration du démarrage de ton système, voyons ensemble pour éviter les mauvaises manips.
En cherchat les specs de ta machine, il semble y avoir un disque SSD. Dans ce cas, 1min de démarrage est clairement long. Sur un système neuf, je pense que 16 secondes est la moyenne pour 18.04.
Peux tu redémarrer ta machine, et immédiatement dès que tu pourras, donnes nous le retour complet de :
dmesg
Puis pour avoir plus d'infos :

Ce qui me chiffonne c'est le kernel qui met plus de 30sec, mais je n'ai aucun détail sur le contenu.

=> En fait, la partie userspace est plus ou moins longue: on y retrouve le "daily apt-get update" au premier boot du jour.
et au moment de mon premier post, j'avais eu le fstrim (pour le SSD) qui doit être lancé de temps en temps.
Cette partie là, j'en fait mon affaire.
C'est cette partie là que je ne sais pas comment aborder: 8.907s (firmware) + 4.712s (loader) + 34.267s (kernel)
Quand je génère un plot SVG (bootchart): je n'ai aucun détail sur le contenu de ces étapes.

Pour le temps assez long marqué comme « firmware » je suppose que c'est dû à l'UEFI. Il faut voir si tu peux désactiver cela dans le BIOS.

J'ai aussi des disques réseaux dans fstab, mais j'ai supprimé pour ne pas polluer (le message dmesg semble plutot s'orienter vers mon ssd)

C'est peut-être une connerie mais personnellement je désactiverais l'UEFI (et tout ce qui ressemble à « secure boot ») dans le BIOS et je referais une installation avec un schéma de partitionnement sans partitions FAT, du type une partition primaire avec système de fichiers ext4 pour monter /, une autre pour monter /home et une pour le swap.

hummm... j'ai rien contre, mais comme je connais rien à l'UEFI et comment ca marche...(c'est mon premier PC qui l'a...) et j'ai souvent vu foule de problème avec ce truc dans les forums, j'ai pas osé trop toucher.
Donc.
-Je désactive le boot UEFI pour mettre le boot à l'ancienne.
-Je vire toutes les partitions et je refais juste un "/" et un "/home" ?
C'est sans risque ?
Pour le swap, j'hésite: ici il est dit que maintenant on met plutot un fichier qu'une partition ( https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/swap ).
Ce qui me plait bien (laisser 8Go de partition swap qui serviront peut etre jamais....j'ai 16G de ram)

J'ai aussi des disques réseaux dans fstab, mais j'ai supprimé pour ne pas polluer (le message dmesg semble plutot s'orienter vers mon ssd)
En phase de diagnostic de dépannage, on cherche sans a priori des pistes.
Donc donne ton fstab complet.

Oui je me demande si le souci ne venait pas du fait que le swap était pls petit que la RAM. Si l'on veut que l'hibernation fonctionne il faut que le swap soit >= à la RAM.

J'avais fait
sudo update-initramfs -u
en suivant le post de Grigouille, mais j'ai refais avec -k all
+ le update grub que je n'avais pas fait.
En parallèle, j'ai suivi la doc pour créer un swap en fichier et non en partition.
J'ai mis 8G et le fichier est /swapfile
Voilà mon fstab complet maintenant (avec la modif swapfile)

hum j'ai encore la partition swap nvme0n1p5, mais comme j'ai mis un swap file, je comptais juste la supprimer via gparted.

J'ai mis le RESUME=none tout à l'heure, ca résoud le pb de temps de boot (30sec de moins).
L'UUID n'etait clairement pas le bon, il avait gardé celui du swap crypté que j'ai supprimé ya quelques temps (1 ou 2 semaines).
Par contre, je n'arrive pas à trouver de doc sur les choix (et conséquences) possibles dans ce fichiers.

Ce que je comprends c'est:
- Si je veux pas d'hibernate: je laisse comme j'ai (=none).
- Si je veux l'hibernate: il faut que je passe mon swap à 16G et je suis le tuto debian (hibernate without swap partition).
A première vue, je dirais qu'avec un boot rapide, je me passe de l'hibernate (j'ai lu aussi que c'etait pas terrible pour les SSDs).
Bien vu pour le lshw...à regarder aussi.

Est-ce que la mise en veille ("suspend") fonctionne ?
Quand tu auras supprimé la partition swap nvme0n1p5, pense à refaire un
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
Le -k all signifie "pour tous les kernels"
je n'arrive pas à trouver de doc sur les choix (et conséquences) possibles dans ce fichiers.
Vois le
man initramfs.conf
de ta distribution.
Et, si besoin, les mans de initramfs-tools, mkinitramfs, update-initramfs.

Bonjour à tous,
Après une nouvelle installation sur un nouvel ordinateur, j'ai eu à nouveau ce problème. La modification du fichier resume n'a rien changée.
Par contre, si on ajoute noresume à grub, c'est bon :
$ grep noresume /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash noresume"
Bien sûr faire
sudo update-grub
après le changement.
