Comment lire une video en .264
Bonjour, je suis sous ubuntu et je cherche à lire le format video .h264 provenant d'un enregistreur de vidéosurveillance (dvr)
Quel logiciel utiliser?

VLC, c'est ta meilleure chance de lire une vidéo, car il comprend beaucoup de codecs et utilise ses propres ressources pour cela.
Plus de 50 ans d'informatique, ça en fait des lignes de commandes en console, mais on n'avait pas le choix...
Excellente raison pour, aujourd'hui qu'on le peut, utiliser au maximum les INTERFACES GRAPHIQUES !

C'est un encodeur ! Là il faudrait un décodeur.
Mais il faudrait d'abord voir ce que c'est réellement comme fichier. Parce que normalement vlc lit sans problème le h264.
Tout comme smplayer (à tester, c'est installé en quelques secondes)
Si ça ne fonctionne pas, il faudrait obtenir des précisions sur le fichier, par exemple avec ffmpeg (à installer, s'il ne l'est pas déjà) :
ffmpeg -i le_fichierNote : selon la version d'ubuntu ça pourrait être avconv plutôt que ffmpeg

Essaie avec Parole.
Sinon je conseille souvent ceci dans mes tutos de finalisation comme complément codec :
sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gxine libdvdread4 totem-mozilla icedax tagtool easytag id3tool lame nautilus-script-audio-convert libmad0 mpg321 libavcodec-extra...mais je n'ai pas spécifiquement expérimenté si le 264 est contenu là dedans ; il semble l'être dans Firefox par contre :
Codec vidéo OpenH264 fourni par Cisco Systems, Inc.Ce plugin est automatiquement installé par Mozilla pour respecter la spécification WebRTC et permettre les appels WebRTC avec les appareils qui nécessitent le codec vidéo H.264. Rendez-vous sur http://www.openh264.org/ pour consulter le code source du codec et en apprendre davantage sur son implémentation.

L'extension laisse supposer qu'à l'intérieur du fichier il y a une piste vidéo en h264. Mais ce n'est pas sûr. D'autant plus que vlc ne veut pas le lire, alors qu'il lit du h264, normalement.
Si tu prends un fichier toto.txt, réellement un fichier texte, ce n'est pas parce que tu le renommerais en toto.mp4 que ça deviendrait un film... Ce qui change, c'est que le système essaye d'ouvrir toto.txt avec un éditeur de texte, - ce qui fonctionnera -, alors qu'il tentera d'ouvrir toto.mp4 avec vlc, ce qui ne fonctionnera évidemment pas.
Donc pour résoudre (si possible) ton problème, il faut essayer de savoir ce que c'est réellement, ton fichier.
Quel conteneur (mp4, avi, mkv, etc.) ? Et quel encodeur (xvid, divx, h264, etc.) ?
ffmpeg reconnaît tout ces conteneurs

Il n'est pas interdit de chercher un peu, aussi, dans la documentation...
Et peut-être aussi dans la documentation de ta caméra. Si ça se trouve, tout y est indiqué.

Sur mon Wheezy, si je cherche avcon dans Synaptic il me sort immédiatement ffmpeg, en plus je peux installer winff.
Sur Kubuntu 12.04, via Synaptic j'ai installé sans problème ffmpeg et winff.
Je comprends mal que tu ne puisses rien trouver.

Il est sur ubuntu si j'ai bien compris. Et là, c'est la logithèque ou le terminal, par défaut.
En plus, avec leurs histoires de passage de ffmpeg à avconv puis retour à ffmpeg, ce qu'on va trouver dépend de la version.
Cerise sur le gâteau : le paquet avconv ne s'appelle pas avconv mais libav-tools. Je viens de voir ça dans la doc...
Comme j'utilise Debian, moi et les paquets ubuntu...
