FGLRX Et vraie accélération 3D (matérielle)
Bonjour,
Étant dans la plus grande détresse (!) avec la 3D sur mon Feisty Fawn, je fais appel à vous, érudits ubunteros.
En effet, je dispose d'un portable avec une Mobility 9700 (ATI) et j'ai donc installé les pilotes propriétaires fglrx comme indiqué sur le wiki. Mon problème est le suivant :
Un glxinfo | grep "direct rendering" me renvoie bien un Direct rendering: Yes, mais je n'ai pourtant pas de véritable accélération 3D. Si je lance glxgears ou fgl_glxgears, je me rends compte en tapant top dans un autre terminal que ces processus me prennent près de 100% du CPU. L'accélération 3D que j'ai est donc seulement logicielle, émulée par le processeur, mais ma carte graphique ne sert que de radiateur. Impossible de lancer le moindre jeu 3D.
Je n'ai pas eu besoin de 3D pendant ces trois derniers mois et c'est pourquoi je ne me rends compte du problème que maintenant. En revanche, tout cela marchait avant, j'arrivais même à lancer des jeux relativement gourmands comme World of Warcraft via Wine. Je ne saurai pas vraiment dire ce qui a changé depuis puisque j'ai évidemment fait de nombreuses mises à jour depuis 3 mois, mais je me demande si je n'étais pas encore sous Edgy Eft et Xorg 7.1 quand cela marchait.
J'ai déjà parcouru les forums et notamment ce sujet, mais la réponse à ce problème (qui ne semble pas isolé) reste introuvable.
Auriez-vous la moindre idée ? Est-ce que je pourrais essayer de rétrograder Xorg à la version 7.1 ? Comment ? À quoi servent les ongles de pieds ? À l'aide !

P.S.
J'ai déjà essayé les pilotes libres Radeon, mais ça ne marche pas mieux. Quand je pouvais jouer à WOW, j'utilisais les fglrx.
J'ai également tenté d'ajouter « fglrx » à /etc/modules, sans succès.

Ce que je ne comprends pas, c'est que cela ait marché ! Je jouais parfaitement à des jeux 3D. Est-ce que c'est le driver fglrx qui n'est pas compatible avec Xorg 7.1 ? Le cas échéant, pourquoi ne pas rétrograder à cette version de Xorg ?

Je ne suis pas sur que l'on puisse rétrograder, par contre ce que tu peux faire (ce que j'ai fait hier suite a une bourde)
c'est recréer le fichiers Xorg.cof
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
Installer le paquet xserver-xorg-ati (ou nom comme ça)
desinstaller les paquets fglrx (si installer) desinstaller les pilotes proprio d'ati
sudo /usr/share/ati/./fglrx-uninstall.sh
redémarrer la bécane
Puis réinstaller les pilotes proprio depuis le site (tu peut suivre le wiki)

Une partie de reponse au moins :
glxgears (et fgl_glxgears) prennent naturellement beaucoup de ressources proc. Ce n'est pas cela qui indique la présence ou non d'une vraie accélération matérielle. Cette réponse a d'ailleurs été donnée à de nombreuses reprises sur la forum anglophone d'ubuntu. Je te renvoie donc a celui-ci pour plus de détails.
Pour être sur de comprendre, actuellement :
Tu as installé les drivers fglrx
Tu as le direct rendering
Tes jeux ne tournent pas.
C'est ca ?
Je peux de toute facon t'assurer que les drivers propriétaires fonctionnent sous feisty vu que je les utilise (et ce depuis breezy). Il n'y a donc pas de raison de retrograder.
Ceci dit, j'attend avec impatience soit des drivers libres vraiment performants, soit des drivers proprio qui supportent aiglx pour pouvoir enfin virer XGL. Mais c'est une autre histoire ^^.
Tu n'as pas XGL installé, tant qu'on y est ?

Tu pourrais préciser un peu s'il te plaît ? Un glxgears qui bouffe pas mal de ressources CPU ne signifie pas forcément que tu n'as pas d'accélération matérielle, c'est bien ça ?

Exactement. glxgears balance un max de frames/secondes, donc consomme un max. C'est pas 100% chez tout le monde, mais chez moi c'est 100% aussi et pourtant je te jure que les jeux tournent super bien

Et dans ce cas là, un jeu type supertuxkart bouffe combien en CPU ? Parce que chez moi c'est de l'ordre des 90/100%, donc je pense que dans ce cas là je n'ai pas de véritable accélération matérielle ou je me trompe encore ?

Pour moi c'est possible que ca prenne 100% CPU et que tu aies l'acceleration materielle.
La question est plutot : d'ou vient le mythe de la fausse accélération matérielle ? Qqn a-t-il vraiment déjà constaté ce phénomène ? J'ai l'impression que ca tient plus de la légende urbaine...

J'ai eu il y a quelque temps, ce magnifique problème (avec le driver libre) j'ai une carte graphique ati 9600 qui est très très mal supporté par le driver libre, a tel point que j'ai réussi a voir un message XfreeDRI : failled, direct rendering : Yes, OpenGL String : Mesa 6.5.2 indirect GLX
au bout de 4 heures de reconfiguration de Xorg, installation des drivers libre ati, j'ai fini par avoir une pseudo accélération (du dri ecrit dans glxinfo), le problème c'est que lorsque je lançais un jeu depuis un terminal, j'obtenais un message disant que le support de r300/r350/rv300/rv350 (en gros les ati radeon => 9550) n'était pas très bien supporté, et les jeu tournaient a 2 - 3 fps (pour tuxracing, bricolo, ...)
En installant les pilotes proprio j'ai rajouté un (ou 2) '0' apres le 2

Mais alors comment savoir que l'on a une vraie accélération matérielle ? Un direct rendering à Yes est-il une preuve suffisante ? A partir de combien de fps peut-on considérer avoir une réelle accélération matérielle (je sais ça doit dépendre de la carte) ?

Je suis en feisty 7.4 and64 et xorg 7.1 (d'où est-ce que vous le trouvez le xorg 7.2 ? Vraiment dans la feisty fawn pas trafiquée ?), et ma 9600 en pilote proprio fglrx fonctionne sans souci.
Ton xorg.conf me semble bon (sauf éventuellement pour faire du Xv, mais ça ne semble pas être ton problème pour le moment).
Pour vérifier si les drivers proprio sont bien pris en compte, fait la commande fglrxinfo.
S'il te parle de Mesa, ce n'est pas bon.
Dans ce cas, vérifie ce que dit le log /var/log/X11.0.log (cherche les erreurs et warnings, mais bon, faut savoir interpréter lesquels sont significatifs... Au pire met le en entier ici).

Désolé, le temps de tout lire, j'avais oublié que tu avais déjà posté le log.
A la lecture du log, la 3D est bel et bien là. Par contre, AIGLX enabled, ce n'est à priori pas bon : fglrx n'est pas censé bien supporter AIGLX. Désactive le pour voir si ça améliore le fonctionnement de tes jeux. (Mettre
Option "AIGLX" "false"
dans la section ServerLayout du xorg.conf.)
Vu ton log, la commande fglrxinfo devrait te sortir en vendor OpenGL ta carte 3D, et non pas Mesa.
Si c'est bien le cas et que l'AIGLX désactivé n'améliore rien, je ne vois pas comment t'aider plus vu que tout signalerait que ton install est bonne.
(Il faudrait que je vérifie ma version xorg, si ça trouve je suis aussi en 7.2, n'ayant jamais fait gaffe qu'à ce qu'affirmait fglrx (qui chez toi fglrx affirme aussi avoir trouvé un 7.1 alors que ton log dit plus haut que c'est un 7.2).)

le pilote fglrx n'est pas compatible xorg7.2 il me semble, d'où le fait qu'il renvoie xorg7.1, cela appraît sur le site d'ati sur la page de téléchargements.
