Problème avec Béryl et une ATI 9800 Pro...

Bonjour,

je vous écris car je commence à désespérer. Ca fait peut etre une semaine que j'essaye d'installer correctement beryl sur une Edgy eft et rien à faire. Voici le point ou j'en suis:
fglrx est installé, j'ai le direct-renderer: Yes. J'ai essayé la méthode avec une session XGL, mais lorsqu'elle se lance rien n'apparait, puis écran noir et retour au gdm. beryl est installé, ainsi qu'emerald et mes drivers fglrx proviennent du package xorg-driver-fglrx. Dans les programmes au démarage, j'ai mis beryl-manager, qui se lance bien (il apparait dans la barre des taches sous la session GNOME).
Auriez vous une solution ? je désespère...

Bonjour,

J'ai moi aussi une AI 9800Pro et j'ai réussi à faire tourner beyl avec XGL en suivant le tuto du wiki.

Au lieu, de ton xorg.conf il serait plus intéressant d'avoir les erreurs (EE) et les warnings (WW) de ton fichier log.

Que te retourne ces 2 commandes :

grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log

grep WW /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Salut, j'ai finalement réussi en fait je me prenais la tête avec xgl, il suffit d'utiliser aiglx et ça marche tout seul... je ne sais pas pourquoi le xgl ne voulais pas se lancer c'était vraiment bizarre, car mon installation était vierge.

Probleme résolu donc :-)

Peux-tu nous dire plus précisément comment tu as utilisé AIGLX avec ton ATI ?

Eh bien, c'est simple.
J'ai booté sur le live CD de UBUNTU version Edgy eft, puis refait une installation propre sur mon disque dur. Apres le redémarage, j'ai vérifié que j'avais bien le direct rendering d'activé. J'ai ensuite installé beryl et emerald-themes par l'utilitaire synaptic, qui a de lui même réglé les dépendances de ces deux packages. Une fois cela fait, j'ai crée un script permettant de lancer beryl-manager directement au démarage de la session.
Simple comme bonjour !
Pour le script, regarder dans le wiki.

Je pose la question car j'ai cru comprendre que AIGLX n'était pas géré par le driver proprio d'ATI.

Tu peux poster ton xorg.conf ?

Tu as bien lu, il faut utiliser le driver libre pour AIGLX et le driver proprio pour XGL.

Sauf que la 9800 pro n'est pas supporté correctement par le driver libre (toujours si j'ai bien lu) d'où mon interrogation

Ben perso sur mon 9600 Mobility avec le driver libre c'est inutilisable tellement ça rame. Donc pour moi c'est fglrx + XGL.

Mais il semble que ce soit très différent d'une machine à l'autre, alors à chacun de se faire son idée sur la question. Tester les 2 c'est franchement pas très compliqué.
