Probleme d'update ECRAN NOIR et enlever GRUB pour LILO

Slt,

Je suis coby le newbie éleveur de pingouins!
Je me suis motivé à installer le DVD Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper que j'avais avec mon mag Linux préféré.
Au niveau de l'install, rien à redire!!!! Très intuitif!
Au 1er boot après install il m'a cherché les MAJ et en a trouvées 121 je crois, je me suis di OK je prends tout et PAF! il a bloqué pendant l'install (écran noir!) je l'ai donc réisntallé mais j'ose plus faire de MAJ !!! Quelqu'un en sait plus???

Et puis GRUB est pas joli et a Ubuntu par défaut, moi je voudrais Windaube (ma douce et tendre préfère...).
Je peux installer LILO que je trouve plus chouette?

pour choisir Win par defaut tu édite simplement /boot/grub/menu.lst

tu donne le numéro correspondant sur la ligne "default =  n" 
où "n" est le "nième"  "title" que tu compte dans menu.lst

attention le 1er est le numéro "0" le 2eme est le numéro "1" ...

et la MAJ tu la feras après un boot propre tu auras au moins une séquence de secour

Salut maitrefolas
J'ai deja parcouru les docs sur le site et j'ai pu éditer le menu de grub
En fait j'ai remarqué que j'avais "savedefault" pour Linux et Windows.
je n'ai pas trouvé de "default 0" (ou alors je suis tres con!)
C'est pour ça que je me suis permis de faire ce message car je suis perplexe...
Ce soir vers 18h je posterai le texte complet. Si tu peux m'aider ce serait sympa

Voila ce qu'il y a dans GRUB.

Si une âme charitable daigne m'expliquer ce que je dois changer pour que Windaube soit par défaut, ce serait super!!!

Merci pour l'info mais dans le wiki on me parle de DEFAULT 0 alors que moi je lis dans mon menu des "SAVEDEFAULT"
Dois-je enlever les SAVEDEFAULT attachés aux 2 version de Ubuntu pour qu'il ne considère que Win XP comme default?

Ce n'est pas dans les paragraphes qu'il faut lire default mais en début de fichier (13 ieme ligne)
Les savedefault n'ont d'importance que si tu fixes la valeur default à

default        saved

Tu peux les enlever les savedefault, d'ailleurs.(ce que je ne te conseille pas)
Dans ton cas tu dois fixer la valeur de défaut à 6 (7 paragraphes - 1)

default        6

Pour fixer la chose, transforme également la ligne

# howmany=all

en

# howmany=2

Ou alors, car c'était prévu, transforme la ligne

# updatedefaultentry=false

en

# updatedefaultentry=true

N'enleve pas un seul #, ni n'en rajoute aux lignes concernées.
