[RESOLU]problème de démarrage

Bonjour

L’ ordi portable  asus vivobook ( ubuntu 20.04) ne démarre plus. Je ne pouvais  pas non plus à l’ arrêter correctement.

Je suis parvenu à le démarrer avec échappement et option ubuntu qui était proposée .

Il est vrai que suite à une disparition de la wifi j’ avais  essayé plusieurs fois sans préalable d’appliquer sans succès   la procédure Finger (voir discussion  ‘’  pas de wifi suite à mise à jour du portable vivobook ASUS vivobook du 31/01/22 ‘’ ) . Ceci a peut-être provoqué des dégâts.

Ou alors une autre cause de défaillance ?

Bonjour,
Je pense que la procédure Finger, tu parles de Larry Finger qui est un gros contributeur sur le code de pilotes wifi realtek.

Je suis parvenu à le démarrer avec échappement et option ubuntu qui était proposée .

Tu veux dire que tu affiches le menu grub, et tu choisis la première entrée ou une entrée dans "Options avancées"?
Je pense pas que ce qui a été appliqué pour le wifi ait entraîné ces problèmes.

As tu un live usb sous la main?

Je ne suis pas trop à l’ aise  avec  tout ceci ,ni pour répondre précisément, ni pour effectuer des manips en toute compréhension.
Je tente de répondre aux deux messages précédents.

Dans le menu que j’ ai obtenu il n’ avait que deux lignes :
« please select  boot device
                     _ ubuntu ( intel SSDPEKNW512GB)
                     _ enter setup
UP  selection ENTER and DOWN to move selection boot device  »

En fait je m’ attendais à trouver 3 ou 4 lignes avec des numéros de noyaux et généric, (éventuellement recovery mode). Autre version ?
J’ ai actionné la première proposition et ai pu démarrer et arrêter correctement l’ ordi.



Comment comprendre l’ analogie entre la discussion « accès impossible au disque dur externe ».
et la discussion actuelle ? Des secteurs d’ amorçage compromis ? Analogie dans la méthode pour
retrouver une situation normale?

J’ ai commandé une clé  à la boutique Ubuntu qui je l' espère s' avérera utile dans cette 'réparation'

En attendant  la réception de la clé, quelques tests préalables sont-ils nécessaires ( ou souhaitables si je ne risque pas d’ aggraver la situation ) dans la mesure ou il est possible de lancer l’ ordi par cette méthode peu conventionnelle ?

Là tu es dans le BIOS, avant grub.

Pour expliquer, tu as d'abord le BIOS qui va essayer de faire démarrer l'ordi (en gros tu as une liste de périphériques, et le BIOS va tenter de démarrer sur chacun d'eux dans un ordre donné et aller chercher un programme comme grub). Ensuite grub prend le relai, et permet de démarrer ubuntu, dans divers modes (utile notamment pour tester des trucs ou avoir le mode recovery).

Le menu que tu as trouvé, c'est le BIOS, pas le menu grub. Mais c'est pas grave, ce que tu dis indique que c'est au niveau du BIOS qu'il y a le pb (parce qu'il trouve pas grub pour une raison pour l'instant indéterminée)
Tu peux donner

lsblk -f
efibootmgr -v

(la deuxième commande sera utile si tu as installé en mode EFI).

Merci pour la réponse et les informations.
Mais je ne peux répondre ( à la commande lsblk -f ) car l' ordinateur affiche deux fois le logo Asus mais refuse de démarrer
en ayant actionné échappement puis  la première option (ubuntu )dans le menu BIOS.
Probablement mauvaise manip la dernière fois en arrêtant l' ordi qui ne bootait pas.
Qu' en penser ? Quelles conséquences?

C'est très bizarre.
Tu peux faire échap, sélectionner Ubuntu et faire à nouveau échap. Si tu as un menu grub, tu peux aller dans options avancées et choisir le deuxième noyau en partant du haut, ne contenant pas recovery ou upstart. Si tu peux booter, tu pourras donner

sudo apt install smartmontools
sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda
dmesg

Sinon je pense qu'il faudra attendre la clé usb que tu as commandé.

J 'ai pu accéder au menu du grup et lancer les commandes.
( maladresse cependant : j'avais laissé la clé usb où j' avais recopié les commandes fixée à l' ordi. Je crains

Pas de chance, tu as un ssd nvme, donc il faut recommencer la manip:

lsblk

va te donner le nom contenant nvme, probablement nvme0n1 (ne prends pas un nom finissant avec un p et un chiffre après, cela représente une partition et pas le disque entier)
Puis tu peux donner

sudo smartctl -a /dev/nvme0n1

(à adapter si c'est pas le bon nom bien sûr)

Je ne comprends pas pourquoi on doit recommencer la manip selon le type de disque interne.
Comment doit-on  comprendre le terme 'périphérique bloc' ?

En fait sous linux, tout est fichier. Par exemple /dev/sda correspond au premier disque qu'il trouve, /dev/sdb au deuxième, ...
Mais il y a une exception: les ssd nvme sont représentés par /dev/nvmeXnY, dans ton cas /dev/nvme0n1
Chaque disque est divisé en partitions, aussi représentées sous forme de fichiers, par /dev/nvme0n1p1, /dev/nvme0n1p2.

La grande majorité des gens ont des disques durs "classiques", ou des ssd SATA, donc le nom du disque en question est généralement /dev/sda. C'est pour cette raison que je t'ai indiqué la commande smartctl -a /dev/sda, sauf que du coup le nom n'est pas le bon: c'est pas /dev/sda mais /dev/nvme0n1

Pour la question du périphérique bloc, c'est un détail plus technique: en interne, on envoie et on reçoit du disque des blocs de données, et non pas un octet par un octet comme le ferait un périphérique caractère (character device, pas sûr de la traduction)

La wifi est instable ( et même est susceptible de disparaître cf lien #10 ).
Ai-je intérêt à  faire une mise à jour lorsqu' on  boote  à partir  du noyau de la troisième ligne du menu grup?
Cela va-t-il nécessairement faire apparaître de nouveaux noyaux dans le menu du grup?
Mais chaque chose en son temps.

Désolé, je n'avais pas vu ta réponse.
Je n'ai pas forcément l'habitude de lire des rapports smart de ssd nvme, mais de ce que je vois, il y a pas de pb avec ton ssd.

Si ton wifi disparaît, tu peux donner

dmesg

le retour est long mais au moins on aura plus d'infos sur le pb.

Peux tu prendre l'heure exacte (avec un smartphone par exemple) pour savoir quand le pc ne démarre pas, ou quand le pc ne s'arrête pas correctement? Cela permettra de voir s'il y a des logs décrivant le pb.

Aussi tu peux essayer

sudo shutdown -P now

pour éteindre le pc: si le pc ne s'arrête pas correctement avec cette commande c'est pas normal

J'ai rien trouvé d'intéressant dans le retour en lien avec le wifi sad
Pour SGX et les bug d'acpi, c'est pas grave.
Je viens de parcourir à nouveau le fil pour le wifi, j'ai une théorie

cd rtw88
make clean
make
sudo make install

suivi d'un redémarrage et tu peux retester le wifi.
Je pense qu'il manque l'installation du pilote avec dkms.

Après le bel optimisme (#18 ) il faut avouer que les choses sont aléatoires au démarrage.
Ce problème d’ ‘instabilité a déjà été rencontré au début de l’ utilisation de l’ appareil.

Je réponds au # 16 pour donner le résultat du boot en fonction des horaires de mon portable.

Le code est le suivant :
0 : échec du démarrage, arrêt en appuyant le bouton du démarrage.
1 : démarrage normal, arrêt normal.
p : manip particulière en démarrant de l’ option ‘ubuntu’ du menu du BIOS , arrêt normal mais long.

Je me permets (avec un ‘s’ cette fois-ci ) de donner les résultats de 10 tentatives :

La wifi était absente dans tous les cas .
Pour revenir sur  les manips la concernant , je n’ ai jamais nettoyé les fichiers comme recommandé.
Ceci tant dans la manip réussie que dans les 3 tentatives avortées  que j’ ai recommencées de ma propre initiative .La dernière de ces tentatives  d’ ailleurs  affichait que l’ opération était réussie alors que la wifi était absente.
Un nettoyage de la branche concernée (et même  général) sera le bienvenu .
J’ effectuerai prochainement la manip proposée #19. ( dkms ?)

Mais pour revenir au problème du démarrage aléatoire , l’exploitation des résultats du boot peut-elle
faire avancer les choses? Autres solutions ?

Ce problème d’ ‘instabilité a déjà été rencontré au début de l’ utilisation de l’ appareil.

Ah, depuis combien de temps as tu ce pc? Est ce que ça merdait sous windows? Quels problèmes avais tu? C'était les mêmes problèmes? Quel est le modèle exact? (voir l'étiquette sous le pc)

Pour le wifi je te laisse essayer ce que j'ai indiqué au #19. dkms est un système pour installer le pilote pour chaque noyau, en d'autres termes chaque mise à jour du noyau entraîne automatiquement la compilation du pilote, ce qui permet de garder le wifi même après une maj du noyau.

Les résultats du boot de #17 ne montre rien d'intéressant ni pour le boot ni pour le wifi, en tout cas je ne vois aucune piste là dedans malheureusement.

Quand ça démarre pas, tu n'as pas non plus accès au menu du BIOS? Tu as pas de LED qui clignote, un bip ou quoi que ce soit?

Voici un bref historique de ce  portable Asus A571GT.
J’ ai acquis le pc fin octobre 2020.
Peu à l’ aise avec l’ installation d’ Ubuntu j’ ai acheté un ordi avec ubuntu préinstallé à une société
qui vend différents modèles .Donc je n’ ai pas eu à faire une installation à partir de windows.
Il a fait 2 traversées de France pour revenir aux ateliers de cette société , l’ un en décembre 2020 et l’ autre en février 2021. Une fois car il ne démarrait pas , une autre fois car le démarrage était aléatoire.Puis pas trop de problèmes , la wifi pas très fiable .
Il est vrai que je m’ en sert peu : quelques % d’ occupation du disque .

J’ ai redémarré et la wifi était fonctionnelle ( tant bien que mal :box 2,4 GHz ordi 5 GHz ).
J’ ai tenté une mise à jour .Long temps de charge…
Lorsque j’ ai voulu redémarrer , ça a planté ( petit tiret qui clignote au coin gauche de l’ écran).
Plus de wifi et échec de la mise à jour.( le numéro du noyau semble cependant changé)

Retenter la manip ? Quelle chose à ‘nettoyer ‘? La commande make clean s’ en charge sans doute .
Utiliser le flux du smartphone est peut-être plus fiable pour lancer à nouveau la mise à jour.
Une fois que les informations de la mise à jour sont dans le pc , le rôle de la wifi semble inutile au redémarrage ( s’ il réussit ! ).

Comment faire pour que la wifi persiste lorsque on se sert à nouveau de la machine,
c’est bien là la question ?

Trouver un technicien dans le secteur qui connaisse bien linux et veuille tester logiciel et quincaillerie n’ est pas facile …

Il est encore sous garantie ce pc?
Qu'est ce qu'ils ont fait pour régler le problème lors des deux passages en SAV? Ils ont changé des pièces? Si oui lesquelles? Combien de temps leur réparation a tenu? (depuis février 2021 ça a fonctionné combien de temps?)

Pour le wifi, ta box fait probablement deux réseaux sur les deux fréquences que tu indiques, ta carte wifi dans ton pc va prendre 2.4 GHz si c'est pas compatible 5 GHz, sinon tu aurais le choix.

Honnêtement, je pense que c'est un pb matériel (après faut encore déterminer d'où ça vient)

Merci pour ta réponse et la patience déployée avec des explications en prime.
Réexaminons la situation du pc qui fonctionne parfaitement ( après avoir booté ! ) et  sans sollicitation de la wifi. Une longue tirade….avec son lot d’ ‘imprécisions’, d’ ignorances.

~ les interventions précédentes :
            Au deuxième retour à la société l’ appareil a fonctionné du 02/21 à 02/22 . Compte rendu : ’système instable ‘. Donc uniquement intervention sur le logiciel.

~ la situation actuelle :
            - noyau xxxxx30 ; troisième ligne du grup xxx28 suite à mise à jour.
            - La wifi fonctionne à peu près , instable à vrai dire (box émettrice norme 802.11n à 2,4 GHz , pc norme 802.11ac soit 5 Ghz). Ceci après avoir rendu active la ‘carte wifi’ ,pérennisé et repris la manip depuis la branche /rtw88 .
            - le pc peut démarrer à la première tentative tout comme à la quatrième ou cinquième.   
- le menu du grup est inaccessible parfois depuis le menu du BIOS  avec la touche echap.

~ arguments en faveur d’ une défaillance logicielle :
            _ l’ intervention de la société (réparation au motif de système instable).
            _  le menu du grup maintenant inaccessible parfois
            _  le fait qu’ en essayant de rétablir la wifi à trois reprises sans succès ( sans make clean, sans pérenniser l’ action sur la ‘carte wifi’, j’ ai probablement perturbé le système puisque les difficultés au démarrage datent d’ alors.

~ arguments en faveur d’ une défaillance matérielle :
             - la conclusion de la présente discussion
             , - la naïve observation suivante :  2 ou 3 brefs ‘éclairs’  avant que ne s’affiche la page d’ accueil ( phénomène non observé sur le pc fixe filaire également sous ubuntu ).

~ installation mode EFI .
             _ la présence de EFI dans la branche /boot/EFI implique-t-elle que l’ installation s’ est faite
en utilisant le mode EFI ? La deuxième commande du paragraphe #5 peut-elle faire avancer les choses ?
             _ Je ne sais pas comment s’ est faite l’installation ,si c’ est à partir d’ un appareil sous windows ou appareil sans système d’ exploitation à la base.

~Que faire ?
             - lui faire traverser une fois encore la France avec les risques liés aux transports.
             - aller chez le réparateur voisin (groupe d’ une vingtaine de sites en France ) au risque de se voir changer la carte mère pour rien (linux pas très apprécié).
             - persister dans la situation actuelle.(danger des arrêts intempestifs en appuyant sur la touche démarrage).
             - attendre l’ arrivée de la clef usb pour tenter de réinstaller le système ( ‘ qui écrasera la précédente version  je suppose ‘ ) ; chose qui paraît risquée si on ne l’ a jamais faite .
             - essayer de redémarrer à partir de la troisième ligne du grup suivie de mise à jour.
             -  consulté , le service client asus dit que l’ appareil est sous garantie, mais intermédiaire...

En te remerciant pour quelques conseils supplémentaires avant d’ agir. (peut-être des défauts
d’ origine à la fois logicielle et matérielle ?

Je pense que le wifi on peut régler le pb.

C'est là le gros pb.

- le menu du grup est inaccessible parfois depuis le menu du BIOS  avec la touche echap.

Deux possibilités:
- ton ordinateur ne démarre pas (n'atteint pas le BIOS en gros), et tu n'as donc pas accès à grub
- ton ordinateur démarre mais tu as pas appuyé assez rapidement sur échap, et du coup grub a déjà lancé ubuntu.

Pour savoir, on pourrait afficher automatiquement le menu à chaque démarrage.

- la naïve observation suivante :  2 ou 3 brefs ‘éclairs’  avant que ne s’affiche la page d’ accueil ( phénomène non observé sur le pc fixe filaire également sous ubuntu ).

Probablement un petit bug graphique, ça peut arriver mais généralement pas un pb.

Oui, c'est installé en mode EFI (et c'est très bien comme ça, c'est plus récent et lève les limites des install legacy)

L'install de linux se fait à partir d'une live usb généralement (il y a d'autres méthodes lorsqu'on veut installer plein de pc en même temps, notamment via le réseau)

Ça me fait penser que j'ai encore reçu un carton complètement défoncé... Oui il faut bien l'emballer, avec plein de papier bulle!

Non, en particulier tant que la garantie coure.

Il y a les bons et les mauvais réparateurs... Le fait de changer la carte mère c'est malheureusement parfois obligatoire, mais souvent la carte mère peut être réparée, et ça coûte pas trop cher. Pour la petite histoire, je connais quelqu'un qui avait eu comme explication du problème de pc qui marchait plus: "c'est un problème d'électronique". Alors qu'en faisant une recherche internet on pouvait voir que le disque dur était juste en mauvaise état (car pas adapté au pc, ni de bonne qualité d'ailleurs).

- attendre l’ arrivée de la clef usb pour tenter de réinstaller le système ( ‘ qui écrasera la précédente version  je suppose ‘ ) ; chose qui paraît risquée si on ne l’ a jamais faite .

En vrai c'est assez simple d'installer ubuntu sur un pc.

Pour moi, puisque l'appareil est toujours sous garantie, l'idéal serait de "guider" le SAV (puisqu'ils l'ont pas résolu la dernière fois), ici montrer que ce n'est pas un problème logiciel. Cela pourrait se faire en affichant automatiquement le menu grub: si en 10 démarrages tu as 2 fois le menu qui s'affiche, alors le pb se passe avant le démarrage de grub.

tu peux faire

sudo nano /etc/default/grub

et tu transformes

GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden
GRUB_TIMEOUT=0

en

GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5

puis tu fais ctrl + X puis o puis entrée pour enregistrer et quitter.
Puis tu fais

sudo update-grub

et normalement le menu grub devrait s'afficher automatiquement au démarrage, et si tu n'appuies sur rien, la première entrée sera choisie au bout de 5 secondes.
Si tu as bien le menu qui s'affiche, tu peux compter sur le nombre de démarrages fait le nombre de fois où le menu grub s'est affiché (ce qui correspond aussi au nombre de fois où le pc a démarré si j'ai bien compris).
