[Résolu] nvidia : NV-CONTROL extension not found on this display
Salut,
J'ai déjà installé sur plusieurs pc des drivers nvidia avec beryl sans problèmes.
Mais là... ça ne marche pas...
La carte est une GeForce 6600 GT, j'ai essayé d'installer nvidia-glx ou nvidia-glx-new, j'ai le même problème avec les deux...
Quand je lance nvidia-settings, j'ai ce message d'erreur :
ERROR: NV-CONTROL extension not found on this Display.
ERROR: Unable to determine number of NVIDIA GPUs on ':0.0'.
ERROR: Unable to determine number of NVIDIA Frame Lock Devices on ':0.0'.J'ai également essayé avec le .run du site de nvidia, mais là c'est encore pire, n'en parlons pas...
quand je lance beryl --test-only, j'ai ce message:

Oui, en désespoir de cause, j'ai lancé envy, qui a fait 50000 trucs sur la machine, et qui a tout cassé (le truc graphique ne démarrait plus). Il faudra remettre le backup de xorg.conf, mais le plus simple va être de reformater je pense...

c'est vrai qu'avec envy, il est préférable de partir d'une config 'propre' ...et si tu as fait déja des modifs sur ton xorg.conf, ça l'a peut être un peut dérouté ...

Sinon, quelqu'un a-t-il déjà réussi à installer les derniers pilotes à partir du fichier .run du site de nvidia?
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run
Car ça fait 3 ou 4 installations que je fais, ça marche avec les dépôts (nvidia-legacy, nvidia-glx, nvidia-glx-new selon la carte), mais si on installe le .run, toutes les étapes d'installation se passent bien, mais à tous les coups le xorg.conf est endommagé et le serveur x ne peut pas démarrer... (testé sur 3 pc différents, avec une GeForce4, une GeForce6 et une GeForce7).
Comment se fait-il que les pilotes du site officiel du constructeur ne marchent pas?

La personne qui a eu ce problème (à qui j'installais le pc) l'a résolu !!!
Je quote son message sur jabber:
I looked at log /var/log/Xorg.0.log and it said the extra power connector to the graphics card was not connected (not needed in windows) so i connected it!!!!
En gros il fallait brancher un truc sur la cg...
