[Geforce 8800 GTS] plantage après install des drivers nvidia

Bonjour à tous,

Je débute sous Linux et je me suis installé une partition Ubuntu en dual-boot avec un WinXP.
Malheureusement, je n'arrive pas à installer les drivers nvidia pour ma Geforce 8800 GTS.

Après avoir fureté dans la doc de ce site et épluché les forums à la recherche d'une solution, j'ai essayé tous les types d'install, sans succès (nvidia.run; Envy en mode graphique et console; paquets glx et glx-new).
Le problème est le même à chaque fois: écran noir au redémarrage (l'écran cherche une source numérique, puis analogique et fini par passer en veille faute de trouver un signal).

Ma config:
-proc AMD64 4200+
-2Go de Ram
-carte Geforce 8800 GTS
-écran (au cas où...) samsung 226BW

De nombreuses personnes qui ont galéré avec les geforce 8XXX semblent avoir finalement réussi à les faire marcher correctement. Il doit donc exister une solution...mais je m'avoue vaincu et fait donc appelle à votre aide.

Alors ? C'est grave docteur ?

hello j'ai eu exactement la meme chose, en lisant le wiki, j'ai vu que le drivers correspondant a ma 8800 et nvidia-glx-new

en fait par defaut feisty t'a installé nvidia-glx

alors tu réinstalle le bon et tu désinstalle l'autre et c'est bon

en esperant que ca t'aide.

au passage, si quelqu'un peut me confirmer que ca active effectivement l'acceleration graphique, car ducoup je peut pas cocher dans le menu driver proprietaire, sinon il remlet toujours nvidia-glx.

et si un correctif a ca existe

NB: j'ai oublié de le préciser dans mon 1er post, mais je suis bien sous Feisty.

question con tu dit que tu as essayer, mais pas via synaptic vu que tu a plus d'interface.
tu l'as donc fait avec apt get
tu es sur de pas avoir loupé la désactivation du nvidia glx

et toujours au cas ou
tu n'a pas retouché au menu d'activation des pilotes propriétaire (qui reremplace glx-new par glx?

sinon moi j'ai fais le bourrin j'ai réinstaller feisty

(en meme temps je venais de le mettre)

désolé la j'ai plus d'idée, si jamais je croise une info

quand ça plante, je remets mon backup du xorg.conf pour reprendre la main sur le système, donc pas de problème de ce côté là (et pas besoin de réinstaller Feisty).

J'ai réessayé d'installer le glx-new (via synaptic) cette nuit.
A ma grande surprise, c'est passé...alors que ça plantait jusque là.
Par contre, pas d'activation de l'accélération 3D.

Au final donc, j'ai le le glx-new installé ce qui est déjà une victoire, mais je suis toujours bloqué en résolution.
Je me pencherai là-dessus ce soir en rentrant.

effectivement, restaurer le . conf c'est mieux!!:D

je viens de vérifier effectivement avec le glx-new ca tourne, mais:

apres quelques bidouilles a l'aide de la doc et un redemarrage de X, mon restricted manager affiche que j'utilise le pilote d'accélération graphique, mais qu'il n'est pas activé: case pas cochée, mais icone vert
et j'aile meme resultat en console pour savoir si oui ou non l'accélération graphique marche

Avec le week-end, j'ai un peu plus de temps pour me pencher sur mes problèmes de drivers sous feisty.

Je suis tombé sur le wiki sur un article faisant état de problèmes avec les connexions DVI. Ma 8800 GTS étant en DVI, c'est peut-être l'origine du problème.

Aprés avoir réinstallé les drivers nvidia (les derniers => 100.14.11), et comme indiqué sur le wiki, j'ai donc ajouté à la section "screen" de mon xorg.cong la ligne suivante:

    Option         "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP"

Ca n'a malheureusement pas fonctionné.

Salut,

Pour moi aussi qui a une 8800GTS 640M j'ai bien galéré pour installer le driver sous linux.

Bon, pour y arriver, tout d'abord, j'ai modifié le xorg.conf pour mettre vesa à la place de nvidia (ou nv) afin d'avoir un X qui marche.

J'ai ensuite installé via synaptic les packets suivants :
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-1x-generic (j'ai installé x=5 mais j'ai upgradé à x=6).
nvidia-glx
nvidia-kernel-common
nvidia-new-kernel-source
restricted-manager

(oui je sais, on peut faire ca depuis apt-get install en ligne de commande mais c'est moins agréable)

J'ai ensuite téléchargé les drivers NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run depuis le site de nvidia
Ensuite, j'ai killé mon server X et en mode console, j'ai installé le driver (faire un chmod +x sur le fichier avant).
J'ai lancé les p'tits utilitaires nvidia en mode console (taper nvidia + tab pour voir la liste) (nvidia-xconfig et nvidia-glx-config), et j'ai refait un startx.

Tout marche pour le mieux pour moi.
Par contre, si quand vous éteignez votre pc et que la config ne marche plus, que gdm n'arrive pas à se lancer en mode X, j'ai eu le même problème. Je l'ai résolu en installant les linux-restricted-modules.

Enfin, si j'ai essayé naivement d'installer la dernière version à ce jour des drivers stables nvidia NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run, mais ca marche pas du tout, y a plus rien, même en vesa ca marche plus. Il me dit que j'ai pas les même versions de modules, ce qui est plutot normal puisque via synaptic les sources nvidia-new-kernel-source sont les versions 1.0.9755+2.6.20-16.28.

Voilà, j'espère que cela pourra un peu t'aider. En tout cas dasn un premier temps, je te conseille vivement de mettre la version 1.0.9755 qui est celle par défaut du système.
Après pour ma part, je suis à 26000FPS sur glxgears donc je pense que j'ai une certaine accélération (beryl désactivé au profit de metacity).

Tiens-nous au courant, j'ai le même problème.
Mais je ne pense pas que ça ai un rapport avec le DVI. Mon ancien écran était un cathodique, j'avais le même problème. Et là depuis hier j'ai un Samsung 226Bw (le même que toi en fait) et c'est toujours pareil
