[résolu] Réparer grub dual boot (ne boote plus que Windows)

Bonjour à tous
Bonne Année et meilleurs voeux à tous
Pour moi ca commence mal, cela fait 2 jours que je galère a essayer de réparer mon dual-boot  lubuntu/win11 qui s'est cassé suite à une bidouille
J'ai épuisé une douzaine d'article et de discussions de forums divers qui recommendent tous plus ou moins les même choses mais rien n'y fait

Situation initiale
- Instalation faite il y a 18 mois, fonctionnait sans soucis jusqu'à dimanche dernier
- Installation initiale W11 puis Lubuntu 22.10
- NVME 2TO partitionné comme suit

Windows et Lubuntu upgradés régulièrement. Notamment Lubuntu 22.10 => 23.04 => 23.10 (en décember) sans aucun soucis

La bidouille qui a fait planter
J'ai un Lubuntu sur un HDD USB externe qui me sert de temps en temps quand je veux booter Linux sur des PC qui ne sont qu'en Windows sans dual-boot (sans grub donc)
Ce HDD a été créé à l'origine sur un PC qui n'avait pas de dual boot
Dimanche il m'a prit l'idée de l'upgraded en 23.10 en bootant dessus sur mon PC dual-boot

L'upgrade sur ce HDD USB s'est bien passé sauf qu'il a viré GRUB du NVME du PC (et qu'il a rajouté le linux "lubuntu-hx90x" dans son propre menu GRUB)
Résultat:
- Si je boot le PC sans le HDD USB, je passe directement à Windows sans passer par GRUB
- Si je boot le PC avec le HDD USB, je passe par le GRUB du HDD USB et je peux booter soit sur le linux du HDD USB, soit sur le Win11 du NVME soit sur lubuntu-hx90x du NVME

Qu'est-ce que j'ai essayé
Un peu tout ce que j'ai pu trouver sur les forums
1) boot-repair en l'installant sur le linux du HDD USB
2) boot-repair en bootant sur l'image ISO boot-repair depuis une clé USB
3) booter le linux lubuntu-hx90x depuis le menu du HDD USB puis enlever le HDD USB et exécuter

      $ sudo grub-install /dev/nvme0n1p5
      $ sudo grub-install --recheck /dev/nvme0n1p5
      $ sudo update-grub

Tout semble être ok et bien vouloir booter sur le lubuntu-hx90x
Mais non, rien n'y fait

Autre remarques
les répertoires /etc/default/grub.d tant de mon HDD USB que du NVME ne contiennent que lubuntu-grub-theme.cfg et non pas les fichiers ?°_* habituels
Mais comme ca ne semble pas poser de problèmes au HDD USB je pense que c'est nouveau avec Ubuntu 23.10

Voilà, je suis à la limite de craquage big_smile et de réinstaller complètement mon linux sur le PC/NVME mais ca me ferais quand bien c... d'avoir à tout réinstaller

SOLUCE

Faire un boot-repair en cochant "purger grub" dans les options avancées semble avoir tout remis en état. Tout le reste ne semble avoir été qu'errance inutile.

Avais-tu pensé à débrancher le HDD externe?
Je te propose de recommencer en postant le résultat de la réparation.
Puis lorsque tu auras rebooté, tu  diras si réparé ou pas.

Avais-tu pensé à débrancher le HDD externe?

Dans le cas 2, j'avais booté sur une clé USB avec le live boot-repair donc je ne peux pas l'enlever puisque je tourne dessus

Dans le cas 3 où j'ai juste utilisé le HDD USB (pas une clé) pour utiliser son GRUB et booter le linux du NVME, oui j'avais enlevé le HDD USB avant de faire les grub install

Recommencer quel méthode ? Le boot sur la clé USB du live boot-repair ?

La réparation en live usb sans le disque dur externe branché.

Désolé je n'ai pas vu ta réponse et j'ai fait une autre manip qiu me semble interressante
- Booter sur le HDD USB mais dans le menu Grub choisir le linux du NVME
- Une fois booté, retirer le HDD USB

Je reboot et là je tombe sur le prompt grub>
J'avoue que là je suis coincé et que je ne sais pas quoi faire

Je boote dans le bios UEFI, et je change l'odre de boot UEFI de [ubuntu, windows boot manager] => [windows boot manager, ubuntu] afin de redémarrer Windows

Y'a des trucs qui me gène dans le résultat d'efibootmrg:

Je ne sais pas à quoi correspondent les entrées 0001 et 0002

J'ai refait la manip à partir du live USB boot-repair et même résultat
Avec ubuntu en 1er dans le boot order UEFI, je tombe sur le prompt grub
Les boot-info avant et après sont là: http://sprunge.us/UO4c5F & http://sprunge.us/GJ2Q8V

J'ai essayé de faire exit depuis le prompt grub et ca boote windows

Donc reboote comme tu peux et fais cette commande de remise en ordre.

sudo efibootmgr -o 4,0

Puis tu testeras.
Si tout est redevenu correct, tu  devrais alors  booter sur lubuntu.
On va alors regarder comment est le ubuntu de ton disque externe.
tu le brancheras et feras un nouveau boot-info afin de voir comment sa structure de  boot est faite.

Mais je boote toujours sur le prompt grub
Donc j'en arrive à la conclusion que grub est bien là mais qu'il ne trouve pas son menu

J'ai donc une fois de plus reboot sur le live USB de boot-repair mais pas pour executer boot repair mais refaire une config de grub sur le nvme
mount, chroot et update-grub
ca semble ok (j'ai oublié de copier la console)

mais toujours pareil, j'arrive dans le prompt de grub sans menu de boot

je suis tenté de me créer une ptite partition sur le nvme et de faire une install de lubuntu dedans en espérant que ca clean tout
mais j'ai peur de ne pas pouvoir la supprimer ensuite sans retomber dans les mêmes problemes
Après qu'est que c'est que 20GB sur un 2TB big_smile mais quand même, par principe j'aimerais bien comprendre et trouver la solution

Je l'ai changé à un moment pour distinguer lubuntu du HDD USB et lubuntu du NVME
hx90x est le nom du pc

je crois que j'ai pas trop le choix que de réinstaller lubuntu en espérant que ca remette tout d'aplomb

Avant de réinstaller le logiciel,  à moins que tu y tiennes, tu pourrais:
Soit lancer un coup de boot-repair pour reinstaller le grub car il est possible que le grub déconne.
Il faut cocher la case purge le grub avant de le réinstaller
Soit remplacer le grub par https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/refind
Cela devrait être facile à installer.

sudo apt install refind

Soit demander au grub de purger les noyaux et de réinstaller le dernier noyau.

J'ai le plaisir d'écrire ce message depuis mon Lubuntu booté normalement depuis le NVME sans artifice.

La solution finale de purger et réinstaller grub via boot-repair semble tout avoir remis en état.

Merci @geole pour m'avoir supporté ces 3 jours.

Difficile de comprendre pourquoi mon grub est passé dans cet état second.
Est-ce le do-release-upgrade sur le HDD USB qui a viré la conf grub du NVME ?
Est-ce qu'un simple apt full-upgrade mettant a jour le kernel produirait le même problème ?

La prochaine fois que je fais un upgrade de ce HDD USB, je le fait sur une machine sans grub (voir sans disque local) pour être sur de ne rien cassé.
