Kernel Panic avec Installation Ubuntu 18.04 sur HP Workstation
Bonjour à tous,
J'ai dégotté une tour HP Workstation, 16G de ram (!) Intel Xeon W3550 3Ghz, BIOS (pas UEFI)
J'essaye d'installer un ubuntu 18.04 (64bit) dessus, à chaque lancement de la clé de boot (réalisée avec rufus) j'ai un kernel panic.
Même chose avec ubuntu 16.04, le 18.04 en version 32bit, le xubuntu...
Pour l'(les)installer, le seul truc qui a marché :
F1 pour arriver au menu, choix de la langue, F6 (menu en bas à droite) et là si je coche pas tout... ça crashe directement après (kernel panic)
J'ai essayé pleins de combinaisons de ce menu, avec mode expert, noapic, nolapic, acpi off etc...
Sur les quatre versions que j'arrive à installer j'ai ce crash si je coche pas TOUTES ces options.
Résultat une fois installé : à chaque mise en veille/arrêt de l'ordinateur, il crash.
Sinon ça marche bien pour ce que j'ai vu, j'arrive à installer les drivers carte graphique (GeForce 560 TI) après avec sudo apt upgrade
Je pencherais pour un paramétrage du Bios ou un proplème de hardware, j'ai essayé pleins de trucs, c'est toujours pareil sur toutes les versions installées.
(Je précise que le windows 7 installé précédemment tournais très bien sans problèmes matériel, mais j'ai fini par formater le disque pour me concentrer sur une distribution linux.)
Par ailleurs, si je boote sur la clé USB avec ubuntu dessus, ça crashe aussi (kernel panic) sauf si je coche tout dans le menu F6
Voilà si quelqu'un a une idée, merci pour votre attention. J'ai récupéré cette Workstation HP Z400 et je trouve que c'est un bel outil, je rêverais de l'utiliser avec un ubuntu 18.04 installé PROPRE

La partie délicate (que tu dois rater) c'est dans cet extrait du post : "quand tu vois cette croix placée juste devant nomodeset, il faut appuyer sur la touche Echap pour sortir de ce petit sous-menu"

Merci pour la réponse, mais en fait ça fait un moment que je m’entraîne avec le LiveUSB, justement pour voir quel paramètre améliore mon cas.
J'ai essayé avec juste le "nomodeset" mais ça me fait le "kernel panic" immédiatement. De même qu'avec les autres options prises individuellement, et finalement j'ai trouvé ici :

Le gars a apparemment le même problème (sauf que lui il boote depuis un DVD), et c'est aussi un PC HP ça a peut-être un rapport.
En tout cas le bon paramètre pour démarrer est de cocher :

Mais j'ai toujours un "system halted" quand je l'éteint. Et j'ai pas lu de solution qui me parle...
J'ai aussi constaté dans mes tests (foireux) que le boot-repair détecte des erreurs et les corriges, mais après on revient au "kernel panic" dès le lancement.
Sinon je laisse comme ça, après tout, ça tourne plutôt bien, mais bon...

Avec tout le paquet de paramètres de noyau que j'ai pointé dans mon post précédent, c'est impossible que ça tourne plutôt bien. Mais c'est toi le patron.

et voilà, pas trop le choix...
Parce que sans rigoler, ça tourne plutôt bien....(Bon après, avec 16G de RAM juste pour faire de la bureautique, ça peut tourner, même si mon système est foireux )
Mais je comptais de toute façon réinstaller, par contre j'aurais bien aimé avoir un truc nickel, sans system halt chaque fois que j'éteins le pc...
Si tu as une autre idée ou un conseil, je suis preneur...

Bref l'apogée d'Intel sur cette vieille technologie avec plus d'inconvénients que d'avantages. Du coup niveau support, c'est la dernière roue de la charette.
Tant mieux pour toi si ça roule comme ça roule; garde ton hp xeon pour les antiquaires, qui sait ?

Salut,
J'y connait rien en hardware mais j'atteste que ce PC tournait encore dans une entreprise il y a moins de 5 ans, pour faire tourner des logiciels de dessin 3D. (d'ou la RAM je suppose)
A l'époque j'ai tout récupéré sauf la carte graphique, un copain m'en avait filé une.
Voilà pour la petite histoire, et tant que j'y suis j'ai vu sur le site de HP qu'il y avait des drivers Linux Red Hat, c'est quoi cette distribution ?
Parce qu'il y a un Haut Parleur dans la tour, et quand je mets mes enceintes externes en line-out le son sort du HP de la tour. J'ai essayé pleins de trucs avec Alsa Mixer, mais rien à faire. Pourtant ça marchait juste avant sur Windows 7.
Alors je me disais, si il y a une distribution Linux avec des drivers pour cette tour, je pourrais peut-être installer le machin qui s'appelle Red Hat ?

Red Hat ou Red Hat Linux Enterprise, la version payante, car ce type de pc est plutot entreprise.
Il y a une version "libérée" de RHLE qui est Fedora.
Pour info, le systeme de paquet n'est plus le .deb mais le .rpm avec une gestion des dépendances assez merdique mais il y a eut de grandes améliorations depuis, voir rien à envier.

Certainement Malbo. Disons qu'historiquement le Xéon est devenu le prototype des multi-coeurs car la course au mhz sur un seul coeur touchait le plafond. Intel a gardé le nom un temps pour relancer le buzz.
