[resolu] Comprendre la séquence de démarrage

Bonjour tout le monde,

mon précédent ordinateur a eu sa carte mère grillée. J'en ai racheté un nouveau sur backmarket, et j'ai demandé à un réparateur de mettre le SSD de l'ancien dans le nouveau, car il est plus volumineux et surtout j'ai deja tout mon install.

L'opération a été un peu plus compliiquée lors du demarrage, car il ne voulait pas démarrer sous ubuntu a cause du BIOS — mon nouvel ordinateur n'a plus le legacy mode.

Bref le reparateur appel ses potes geeks et réussi tant bien que mal à faire fonctionner le bousin, mais en fait il m'installe un second ubuntu à côté du premier.

Maintenant lorsque je démarre la bécane, j'ai ceci qui apparait.

Et de fait si je regarde la table des partitions j'ai ceci

La "sous partition" (j'ai un peu du mal à comprendre comment tout ca fonctionne, j'ignorais qu'on pouvait avoir des partitions dans les partitions) orange est celle de son ubuntu neuf, la grande partition à sa gauche est celle de mon ubuntu "historique".

J'ai 2 questions :
- comment éviter de passer à chaque fois par cet étape, pour selectionner directement la ligne en blanc et booter mon ubuntu "à moi"
- subsidiairement, un jour je pourrais manquer de place dans ma partition "historique", j'aimerais récuperer l'espace occupé par la partition en orange : est-ce possible sans risque ?

Bonjour.
Dans le vieux système de stockage avec table de partition ms-dos il ne pouvait y avoir que quatre partitions primaires. Ce qui est peu. Il est donc fréquent que l'une soit déclarée étendue. Elle a alors la possibilité d'héberger jusqu'à 1024 (2048?) autres partitions. Celles-ci s'appelant alors logiques. A noter que tout cela ne peut théoriquement dépasser 2 TiO.
Tu es certainement dans ce contexte depuis le début.
Avec les disques dépassant 2TiO, il faut utiliser une table de partition gptElle peut alors héberger 128 partitions primaires. Elle est dupliquée en fin de disque pour se protéger du secteur 0 illisible.
Un disque de moins de 2TiO peut aussi avoir une telle table de partition et il existe une commande de conversion sans perte de données.


Pour ta réparation.
Boote avec le support d'installation. Installe boot-repair.
Prends loptions avancées et dis-lui de réparer ton ubuntu.
Par la suite, installe gparted et supprime l'autre ubuntu et agrandis le tiens.

merci, je testerait tout cela à la rentrée, chez moi, dans un cadre plus propices à avoir des choses stables.

Bon, j'ai testé boot-repaire, ca n'a rien changé... j'ai toujours cette fenetre au demarrage qui me propose de choisir entre 2 versions d'ubuntu

oui je n'ai pas voulu supprimer l'autre tant que je n'ai pas résolu ce problème : ce me fait un depanne en cas de plantage.

Je pense que tu es sur celui que tu veux conserver...

tout à fait, d'ailleurs c'est le seul où j'ai tout mon home et toutes mes paquets, donc c'est bien le bon smile, je le vois rapidement

jusqu'à la je suis

Je te propose la solution suivante.
- Boote avec le support d'installation.
- Lance gparted.
- Supprime le flag ESP de la partition P3
- Mets le flag ESP sur la partition P1
- Quitte gparted
- Installe et lance boot-repair.
- Fais la réparation recommandée.
- Reboote.
Note que tu auras toujours un dual boot mais cette fois-ci P5 devrait être en tête de liste.
Cela te permettra de supprimer P3 et P6 et d'agrandir P5.

J'ai fait cela. Redemarré. Toujours ce menu avec mon vrai ubuntu en second position

- /dev/...p1 a bien le flag esp (mais pas boot, je ne sais pas si c'est volontaire qui tu n'ai pas dit de le déplacer)
- /dev/...p5 et /dev/p6 toujours présent (mais un truc chelou,Gparted me dit que dev/p5 est monté sur /, /var/snap/firefox/common/host-hunspell)
- ../p3 a boot mais pas esp

Je n'ai pas compris pourquoi  l'entrée nvram n'a pas été ajoutée.
Tu vas le faire avec cette commande.

sudo efibootmgr  --create  --disk  /dev/nvme0n1   --part  1  --label   "grububuntu"  --loader "\EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi"

J'ai donc supprimé les 2 partitions excendaires, agrandi mon disque. Pas de souci de perte de donnée. Ouf !

J'ai passé un coup de boot repaire, car au demarrage on me proposait toujours les deux partitions, donc la 6 supprimé.

Au demarrage je n'ai désormais plus que le choix entre ubuntu et advanced ubuntu.

Comme faire maintenant pour demarrer directement ubuntu sans que le grub ne s'affiche ?

Bonjour.
Je trouve  bien que le grub s'affiche , cela n'use pas beaucoup l'écran et    lorsqu il a un problème à traiter et qu'on doit démarrer      sur un vieux noyau ou en mode recovery et ne pas choisir le dernier noyau, le menu est déjà affiché. On ne s'arrache donc pas les cheveux  en se demandant comment faire.
On perd juste 10 secondes  à attendre si on ne choisit pas.
Sinon, il faut  modifier  le fichier  /etc/default/grub et modifier cette ligne
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
pour qu'elle devienne
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden
et regénérer le grub.

Bonjour ou tout simplement remplacer le delais d' attente ( 10 par defaut , mais il me semble que tu l' as deja  modifié) à 0 , tout simplement .

tu remplaces le  5 de cette ligne par 0 dans le fichier qu ' a indiqué geole ( /etc/default/grub ) :

GRUB_TIMEOUT="5"

tu sauvegardes et tu tapes :

sudo update-grub

pour que le changement soit pris en compte .

En  tout cas , je suis de l' avis de @geole , il vaut mieux faire s ' afficher le menu GRUB , quitte à perdre 2 secondes , en cas de probleme , c ' est souvent tres utile , alors que si il ne s ' affiche pas , bonjour la galere pour recuperer et lancer un mode avancé ou de depannage lorsque c ' est la moise ...

J'avoue que je n'ai jamais eu besoin du mode depannage... je ne sais pas même pas à quoi ca correspond.
Bon, je vais réflechir et voir à l'usage. Merci en tout cas! On verra si jamais je décide de finalement masquer le grub.
