mauvaise resolution avec driver SiS

bonjour
je vien ici pour un peu d'aide:
j'ai un chipset "SiS 741GX 963L", je tourne avec dapper et ma resolution d'ecran ne peut pas dépasser 800x600
j'ai deja essayé de modifier le fichier xorg.conf mais ca ne change rien
c'est surement le driver installé par defaut qui ne le permet pas alors j'aimerais bien savoir ou trouver un bon driver SiS pour ubuntu qui puisse me permettre de travailler en 1024x768
j'ai été voir sur le site de SiS mais j'ai trouvé qu'un driver sis pour les distrib' redhat, un fichier .o, je ne sais pas si il y'a un moyen de l'utiliser, avec un emulateur peut-etre ?

sinon, je voulais preciser que sur windows je peux bien sur me mettre en 1024x768
et sur ubuntu la 3D marche (meme si ca ramme un peu (justement parceque le driver est pas terrible))

salut, merci de la reponse
si tu pouvais me dire comment on fait avec ton site la ca serait bien parceque la, des qu'on parle de CVS et en plus en anglais j'ai peur de casser mon ubuntu...

super simple tu rajoute les depots :
deb http://www.winischhofer.net/sis/debian/unstable ./
dans ton sources.list ensuite tu recupere les clés GPG et tu met a jour apt
gpg --keyserver hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net --recv-keys 092dc947
gpg --armor --export 092dc947 | apt-key add -
sudo apt-get update
et ensuite il faut installer le sisctrl
sudo apt-src build sisctrl

ensuite tu n'a plus qu'a modifier ton x-org en t'inspirant de l'exemple proposer sur le site en ayant pris soin de faire une copie de sauvegarde au cas ou smile

mouarf, je revien d'une longue aventure
j'ai pris le fichier sis_drv.so et je l'ai remplacé par l'encien dans le dossier usr/lib/xorg/module/driver
resultat: X ne voulait plus demarrer, j'ai du le reconfigurer a la console plusieurs fois (je choisissais sis au debut mais X continuais de planter alors j'ai pris vesa et la ca va mieux)

sinon je vais essayer ton truc aussi, merci

j'ai une erreur sur la deuxieme ligne de ton code:

c'est peut-etre moi qui est trop newbie mais rien ne marche...
enfin le truc que tu vien de me dire ca a marché mais sinon avec "sudo apt-get update" il me dit a la fin que des paquets n'ont pas pu etre chargés
ensuite tant qu'a faire j'essaye quand meme la derniere: "sudo apt-src build sisctrl" et la il me sort que apt-src n'existe pas...
bref je crois que je vais rester en 800x600 avant de faire des conneries... sad

Le driver par défaut fourni avec dapper marche très bien, (mais  j'espère que tu ne l'as pas supprimé ? ) :

Est-ce que dans ton xorg.conf tu as précisé "sis" comme driver graphique à a place de "vga" ou de "vesa"?
As-tu ensuite mis des résolutions 1024x768 pour l'écran ?

Fais voir ton xorg.conf  SVP. smile

@figaro: non je l'ai pas supprimé, je l'ai sauvegardé avant de le remplacer, je suis pas fou ^^
dailleur la j'ai remis l'encien car le nouveau ne fonctionne pas apparement
sinon dans le xorg.conf, en ce moment je suis en "vesa" parceque "sis" ne marchais pas a cause du remplacement, mais maintenent c'est bon j'ai remis celui par defaut, j'ai dailleur fait quelques tests en mettant en "sis" et en ajoutant la resolution 1024x768, mais quand je demarre ubuntu (j'entend les sons) l'ecran reste noir avec un truc du genre "out of memory" alors j'ai remis celui avec "vesa"
voila mon xorg.conf:

Quand tu auras rebooter va dans préférences/Résolution et choisi 1280x800 avec 60 comme rafraîchissement.

si quand tu bootes tu n'as pas le uspalsh va dan menu.lst de grub et ajoute à la fin de la ligne
#defoptions=quiet splash
vga=792(1280x768*16Mo) pour obtenir :

#defoptions=quiet splash vga=792(1280x768*16Mo)

puis tu fais :

sudo update-grub

oulah heu, je vien d'essayer avant que tu post, j'ai eu le droit au "out of memory"
et des que j'enleve les hautes resolutions, plus de problemes, sauf que je suis toujours en 800x600
je vais essayer ce que tu vien de dire
mais sinon c'est quoi le "usplash" ?
edit: et mon ecran ne gere que le 1024x768 maximum

si tu n'as que 1024
tu mets vga=791 au lieu de vga=792(1280x768*16Mo)
dans le xorg.conf tu supprimes les définitions supérieures à 1024x768
et quand tu choisira ta définition tu prendras 1024x768.

C'est dans le fichier /boot/grub/menu.lst que tu trouves cette ligne.

Le usplash c'est l'écran qui s'affiche pendant le boot avec le logo ubuntu et la barre de progression.

Elle y est forcément.

je viens de regarder ton xorg.conf et j'ai remarquer que tu utilise le dri. j'ai modifier ton xorg.conf peux tu essayer avec celui ci et nous dire si c'est mieux.

Re : mauvaise resolution avec driver SiS

ok natas, j'essaye ton xorg.conf
(désolé pour le double post, je peux pas editer l'autre message parceque ca le tronque)

EDIT: le tien marche mais... je peux toujours pas avoir plus que 800x600 :'(
