Installation of linux from a Ubuntu live CD using chroot
Hi,
Here is the challenge: installing ESX 3 server (based on Fedora/Redhat distrib) from a Ubuntu live CD using chroot.
The problem is that:
- it is a remote host
- I can only run a live CD of Ubuntu already inside the CDRom Drive
- I just have access to the host via ssh
So I can't put ESX CD and run the installation...
1) I used a Ubuntu live CD to boot
2) I have uploaded ESX iso using wget and I have extracted the files in a directory
I know that I have to manage some files like initrd.img and vmlinuz in the isolinux directory and I also have to use chroot but can anyone help me for the next step please?
N.B:
/dev/sda1 is /boot
/dev/sda2 is /
Do you think that it is possible to use the ESX CD files I have copied on the HD to start an installation?
King Regards
