umm si ça se trouve il est branché en firewire et pas en usb,

Peux tu regarder le cable avec lequel tu branche ton disque ?
Est-ce que la prise du coté PC  ressemble plutot à ça :

ou à ça :
http://www.nullmodem.com/images/usb-cables.gif (prise usb)

la prise usb est symétrique alors que la prise firewire possède un coté en forme triangulaire et un coté carré,
est-ce que ta prise est firewire ou usb ?

La commande lsusb peut-elle apparaitre un périphérique USB. Ne serait-il pas judicieux, si c'est bien de l'usb, de lancer dans un terminal

Il a lancé la bonne commande au départ puis l'a relancée privée de la barre verticale. De toutes façon, il est acquis que gnome-volume-manager est installé. Il est également certain que le câble est usb, donc le disque aussi.

montre qu'une alimentation insuffisante peut empêcher le fonctionnement d'un équipement Archos (bon, d'accord il ne s'agit pas du minihd, mais...).
Il vaut donc mieux utiliser le hub avec alimentation

Au vu de la liste des modules présents chez BOURGOIS (#39), il n'y a pas les modules usb-storage et ehci_hcd. Je pense que cà ne mangerait pas de pain de faire dans un terminal un

sudo modprobe ehci_hcd
sudo modprobe usb-storage

Ensuite, il pourrait être fait ce que je proposais au #80 (surtout avec alimentation) pour vérifier si l'ajout de ces modules améliore la situation.
Si les deux modules ci-dessus n'apportent rien, ils ne seront pas rechargés au prochain démarrage (autrement non plus, d'ailleurs).

Bonjour,

il a trouvé le disque apparamment !! il porte le nom sda !

normalement si tu tapes dans un terminal :

ls /dev/sd*

(ls espace /dev/sd*)
tu devrais voir sda apparaitre,

Si c'est le cas, il ne reste plus qu'à le monter en le rajoutant au fichier fstab, pour cela tapes dans un terminal :

sudo gedit /etc/fstab

puis rajoute la ligne suivante :

/dev/sda1       /media/usbdisk      vfat    defaults,umask=0      0       0

ton fichier fstab doit etre comme ceci (peut importe l'ordre des lignes, mais normalement tu n'as pas de lignes supplémentaires) :

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
proc            /proc           proc    defaults        0       0
/dev/hdb1       /               ext3    defaults,errors=remount-ro 0       1
/dev/hdb5       none            swap    sw              0       0
/dev/sda1       /media/usbdisk  vfat    defaults,umask=0      0       0
/dev/hdd        /media/cdrom0   udf,iso9660 user,noauto     0       0

ensuite dans un terminal tu tapes :

sudo mount -a

et ton disque devrait etre visible dans le répertoire /media/usbdisk
tu peux vérifier en tapant :

ls /media/usbdisk

alors ça marche ?

Ne penses-tu pas que sda est plutôt la clé USB? Parce que 66 MB, çà me parait court pour un minihd de chez archos.
Je crois qu'il faudrait augmenter la longueur de message à afficher en lançant un

ouai on peut tenter ta commande mais je suis septique, faudrait peut etre essayer de faire des recherche sur google pour voir si on trouve des infos sur cet archos mini-hd...

Le seul truc interressant, c'etait mon lien sous #78. Ça confirme tout de même  que le disque est visible avec ou sans alimentation par le hub. Attendons le resultat de la commande

dmesg | tail -n 40

qui est à lancer, à mon avis, après avoir débranché et rebranché le minihd

j'ai essayé de comprendre quelque chose à ton LONG message #93.
Pour l'étudier, je l'ai recopié dans gedit et c'est là que je prends les numéros de lignes.
À la ligne 129 tu dis

j'ai fait dmesg seule avec le Hub et disque dur

C'est pour au-dessus ou au-dessous?
Ligne 283, detection du disque interne branché sur la nappe 2 (hdb)
ligne 286 idem pour le CDrom (hdc)
ligne 354 idem pour la clé usb à l'adresse 4 et avec 66 MB (ligne366) dénommé sda
À la ligne 384, tu la débranches. Et à la ligne 399 se termine provisoirement le fichier dsmsg.

Avec le disque dur seule

Cà s'applique bien à ce qui vient après?
Jusqu'à a ligne 670 incluse, il n'y a rien de neuf, cette ligne etant la 399 de tout-à-l'heure.
Ce qu'on voit après, c'est semble-t-il, la déconnexion du hub, puis la connexion et la deconnexion du disque usb. Il est donc détecté.
À mon avis, dans les prochains tests, il ne faudrait pas que tu les fasses tantôt avec ou sans clé usb. Çà complique inutilement.
Oublie les «dmesg» intégraux. Les 10 ou 20 dernières suffisent.

Je viens de reparcourir ce qui s'est dit depuis le début et il va falloir avoir de la rigueur et aller pas à pas.
Disque Archos pas branché.
D'abord remettre /etc/fstab d'aplomb. Dans un terminal,

sudo gedit /etc/fstab

Mettre en commentaire les lignes commençant par /dev/hdc et /dev/hdc1 (çà consiste à mettre un # en début de ces lignes pour les neutraliser. Ce caractère s'obtient avec la touche AltGr -à droite de la barre d'espace- et la touche 3/" en haut du clavier pressées ensemble)
Après çà, enregistrer et quitter gedit. Puis

sudo mount -a

Mettre un cdrom dans le lecteur. Voir s'il est possible de lire le cd.
S'il n'est pas visible (et seulement si), vérifier que les 3 premières cases sont cochées dans Disques et media amovible (Système -> Préférences -> Dis...). Si tel est bien le cas et que le cd n'est pas visible, Éditer à nouveau /etc/fstab pour remplacer /dev/hdd par /dev/hdc. Après avoir quitté gedit, à nouveau :

sudo mount -a

Il devrait y avoir, sur le bureau, une icone représentant un cd et le cd doit pouvoir s'ouvrir dans Raccorcis -> poste de travail.
Ensuite, résultat de la commande

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

à tanscrire.
Disque Archos branché.
Lancer à nouveau la commande

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

et transcrire le résultat.
Entre le début et la fin, ne pas toucher à la clé usb ni au hub. Si c'est en place avant çà y reste jusqu'au bout et vice versa.
On avisera pour la suite en fonction des résultats.
Pendant qu'on y est et que le disque est branché, on peut faire un
sudo fdisk -l      (L minuscule et le tout en 3 mots)

comme je l'ai deja remarque, il reconné <S:  Product=USB Cable> le cable comme sur XP si je n'installe pas le pilote

Il est reconnu. Il est connecté en usb 1.1 (Spd=12 sur la ligne T).
Quand il est branché, que donne lsusb (sans ajouter ou enlever de clé usb car cela fait changer le nom des disques, bien souvent).
Et un sudo fdisk -l ?

Un dernier mesage pour aujourd'hui. J'ai trouvé les liens suivants sur les produits archos. Ceux-ci fonctionnent avec linux. Mais avec des fortunes diverses. Certains se plaignent de devoir attendre jusqu'à 5 à 15 minutes pour l'initialisation (et donc la lecture). Certains évoquent le problème de l'alimentation un peu trop faible à partir de l'ordinateur hote.

j'ai essaye avec un traducteur il semblerais que les disques Archos soit de vilain cochon d'apres la traduction
pour le formatage; la question est: serait 'il reconnu par XP,avec  ce disque avant qu'il ne soient operationnel on attand facilement  1 Mn le temps de l'execution automatique ce finisse
pour le moment je n'ai que mon portable pour faire la liaison internet
la question faut il continué a chercher ou pas à faire fonctionné ce disque Archos sur Ubuntu
pour moi personnellement je dirais oui car cela est une question technique qui peut servire a
beaucoup de monde
par contre pour toi etant donne que je suis un debutant dans l'informatique libre, es tu interrese pour continué

Le sujet peut intéresser d'autres personnes également, c'est pourquoi j'i mis les liens.
Parmi ceux-ci, il en est qui montrent que ce disque est utilisable avec linux. Par ailleurs, il y en a qui se plaignent de devoir attendre de longues minutes pour qu'il soit lisible (certains parlent de 10 à 15 mn).
Il se peut que ton disque soit utilisé d'une façon que je ne maitrise pas (en raid par exemple - pas la peine de me demander comment çà fonctionne).
Autre question que j'ai oublié de poser : après remise en état de /etc/fstab, le cdrom fonctionne-t-il correctement ?
