[RÉSOLU] Freeze Ubuntu, la faute à la carte graphique ?
Bonjour à la communauté
je viens vers vous pour un problème que je ne parviens pas à solutionner, le freeze de mon PC.
Voici ma configuration actuelle :

Ce PC tournait auparavant parfaitement sous Windows 7 x64
Les freezes intervenant aléatoirement lorsque je navigue sur le net (pas de stream vidéo), je me suis dit que ça venait de Firefox, que j'ai donc désinstallé et remplacé par Chromium, en vain.
Plusieurs recherches sur différents forums mettent en cause la carte graphique, notamment ce thread (post #3) : https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1991821
J'ai donc cherché à installer les pilotes dits "propriétaires" de ma carte graphique, en les téléchargeant directement depuis le site NVidia : http://www.nvidia.fr/download/driverRes … /114842/fr
sans parvenir à installer le fichier .run
Entre temps, j'ai aussi lu que celà pouvait venir d'une surchauffe du CPU.

J'espère que vous pourrez m'aider dans la recherche d'une solution.
Une réinstallation/changement d'OS n'est pas envisageable, beaucoup trop de données seraient à sauvegarder.

Personnellement, en cas de freezes aléatoires, la première chose que je vérifie, c'est la RAM. Tu as Memtest dans le menu de GRUB (ou le menu d'un LiveCD Ubuntu). Laisse-le faire quelques passes complètes : si au bout de 5 il n'a rien trouvé, tu peux pousser jusqu'à 10. S'il n'a toujours rien trouvé à ce moment-là, on peut a priori écarter cette hypothèse. S'il trouve la moindre erreur à un moment, tu es bon pour changer la RAM. Note : le test va prendre plusieurs heures.
Ça pourrait aussi venir d'une surchauffe, peut-être plus de la part de la carte graphique que du CPU. Mais dans ce cas, tu devrais entendre les ventilos tourner anormalement vite quand ça arrive.
Pour ce qui est du pilote, tu es bon : tu utilises déjà le pilote nVidia. Et comme ton GPU est assez ancien, tu n'auras de toute façon pas plus récent en allant le télécharger chez nVidia.

Une réinstallation/changement d'OS n'est pas envisageable, beaucoup trop de données seraient à sauvegarder.
rassure moi, tu as des sauvegardes de tes données ? Ton PC n'est pas de tout jeunesse, le disque peut lacher sans crier gare !

Bonjour à tous et avant tout, merci pour vos réponses.
Concernant le test Ram, j'ai omis de le préciser dans mon post initial mais il avait été réalisé avec Memtest64 sur une clé USB bootable, sans retourner aucune erreur.
rassure moi, tu as des sauvegardes de tes données ? Ton PC n'est pas de tout jeunesse, le disque peut lacher sans crier gare !
Le disque dur a été changé quelques jours avant le passage à Ubuntu (acheté le 24/04/2017), et les données avaient mis presque une journée complète pour être transférées.

J'ai entre temps changé pour les drivers 304 de NVidia car j'ai cru comprendre qu'ils offraient une meilleure compatibilité avec Ubuntu.

donc installe ceux là

pour éliminer la piste, si les freeze revient, peux-tu tenter cette modif
gksu gedit /etc/default/grub
(installer gksu si besoin)
et éditer la ligne GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT pour ajouter
intel_idle.max_cstate=1 dans le contenu existant de GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
Puis, rafraîchit le grub
sudo update-grub
et reboot
si ça résoud pas le problème, revient en arrière, cette modif risque de faire baisser la conso et chauffer le CPU
C'est censé s'appliquer uniquement aux CPU baytrail mais bon on peut toujours tenter....
pour annuler la modif, tu supprimes l'ajout dans grub puis
sudo update-grub
et reboot

j'ai tenté la modification GRUB et le système se coupe tout seul au bout d'un moment. Je pense que c'est dû à, comme tu l'avais prédit, une surchauffe du CPU.

Les freezes intervenant aléatoirement lorsque je navigue sur le net (pas de stream vidéo), je me suis dit que ça venait de Firefox, que j'ai donc désinstallé et remplacé par Chromium, en vain.
Comme tu n'as pas précisé ta variante, je suppose que tu utilises la variante principale : Ubuntu.
Le confirmes-tu ?
Cette variante est gourmande en RAM.
Tu as 3 Gio de RAM.
Tu n'as pas de partition swap mais un swapfile, plus lent.
Ton swappiness est encore à 60.
chromium est plus gourmand en ram que firefox.
Tu n'as pas mentionné l'extension noscript ni aucun autre bloqueur de javascripts.
À mon avis,
c'est ta RAM qui est mise à genoux par ta navigation.
Donc il convient :
-1 d'abaisser ton swappiness, comme l'a dit nam1962. Par exemple :
echo vm.swappiness=10 | sudo tee -a /etc/sysctl.conf
suivi d'un redémarrage.
-2 de remettre firefox à la place de chromium,
-3 et d'installer et d'apprendre à utiliser son extension noscript, pour éviter que firefox laisse tourner des tas de javascripts inutiles, indiscrets et gourmands en ressources.
Paramètre-la comme indiqué là ./viewtopic.php?pid=18711521#p18711521 et là ./viewtopic.php?pid=20506971#p20506971 (et dans les messages suivants).

je serais quand même surpris que le swap soit en cause mais il est bon d'éliminer la piste.
Quand le système utilise le swap, il est certe plus lent mais il n'est pas censé figer, sinon le mécanisme du swap ne sert à rien.
par rapport à l'extension noscript, je serais un peu moins intégriste et proposerais u block origin.
La navigation sans javascript à l'heure actuelle, c'est un peu galère....
question "Tu n'as pas de partition swap mais un swapfile, plus lent." en quoi un fichier de swap est plus lent qu'une partition ?

Il ne s'agit aucunement de naviguer sans javascript ! Au contraire !
Il s'agit de choisir ceux, utiles et légitimes, qu'on laisse tourner et mobiliser le CPU et la RAM, et d'exclure les intrus !

Déjà, dans les sources, il est toujours mieux d'activer les dépôts partenaires (partners)
Pourquoi es tu en 17.04 et non en 16.04 LTS ?
Sinon, tes PPA sont dégoûtants !
Alexmurray est obsolète et pas maintenu depuis 2014
Tualatrix idem (Ubuntu Tweak est déprécié et abandonné depuis 2014 aussi !)
Nilarimogard contient une masse de paquets et dépendances bidouillées, c'est pire que les proposed !
Pour les obsolète, on doit bidouiller, je te suggère de :
désinstaller les sensors
désinstaller ubuntu tweak
puis virer leurs PPA
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/alexmurray*
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tualatrix*
Pour Nilarimogard on va tout nettoyer :
sudo apt install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
Puis tu passeras
sudo apt autoremove
sudo apt clean
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
