pb de montage d'un disque dur usb externe (sda: assuming drive cache:

Bonjour.

Ce disque dur externe (Lacie, USB 2.0) fonctionnait très bien avec la
version 4.10 d'Ubuntu.
Depuis la 5.04, il n'est plus utilisable.

Symptômes :
- dès l'installation (pendant l'installation), le message "sda:
assuming drive cache: write through" envahit la console environ une
fois par seconde. Il apparait également dès que le disque externe est
allumé.
- disque dur externe non reconnu, ne monte pas
- programme système>administration>gestionnaire de périphériques se
plante dès le lancement
- l'occupation cpu passe à 100% au même rythme que les messages sur
la console, ce qui rend le système très peu réactif
- tous les symptômes disparaissent si j'éteins le dd (mais comme
toutes les données sont dessus...)

Quelques recherches sur google me laissent penser qu'il s'agit d'un
problème de pilote, mais je n'en ai pas compris plus.

La lecture d'un post m'a fait rajouter uhci-hcd à la fin de
/etc/modules, sans grand succès : les symptômes disparaissent, mais
le disque n'est toujours pas monté ni reconnu (j'ai supprimé ohci-hcd
par la commande rmmod, sinon les symptômes persistent). Mais en
touchant aux modules, je joue clairement à l'apprenti sorcier : cela
dépasse de loin mes connaissances.

Bonjour,

As-tu essayé le acpi=off pci=routeirq noapic ou simplement le acpi=off en append sur la ligne du kernel dans le menu.lst de gub ?

Il semblerait que cela ait parfois résolu le problème.

Si tu maîtrises la ligne de commande dans grub tu peux tester cela sans modifier /boot/grub/menu.lst.

Non, je n'ai rien essayé de tout ça (et je n'ai plus la machine sous la main).
On me glisse à l'oreille que le problème serait le driver usb, en forte évolution actuellement.
Une solution "propre et simple pour débutant", serait de repasser en 4.10...

Ma foi, pourquoi pas : puisque ça marchait avant, et que rien n'a fondamentalement changé (du point de vue utilisateur, du moins - à l'exception notable du petit programme qui prévient quand de nouvelles mises à jour sont dispo), ça se tient.
Un peu dommage qu'un tel "bug" soit présent dans une version stable, ceci dit.
