Freezes récurrents après bidouillage avec mes drivers graphiques

Bonjour à tous et merci d'avance pour votre aide,

Je suis actuellement sur un Ubuntu 18.04 avec Gnome, et je rencontre des problèmes avec le driver Nouveau et avec mes drivers Nvidia. J'ai installé mon Ubuntu il y a quelques mois sur un PC qui était vierge au début. Je n'avais pas pris la peine de passer sur ma carte graphique NVIDIA GTX 970 jusqu'à présent car je n'en avait pas l'utilité. Tout tournait bien avec Nouveau, et récemment je me suis dit que j'allais changer de drivers pour pouvoir utiliser ma CG.

En essayant d'installer les drivers NVIDIA, on m'a proposé quatre versions :

Les quatre me donnent le même résultat : un seul de mes trois écrans est détecté, et la résolution n'est pas la bonne. Voici ce que me donne xrandr :

J'ai essayé pas mal de solutions. J'ai tenté de blacklister nouveau (ce que je pense avoir inversé vu que nouveau se boot bien, voir ci-dessous), j'ai aussi tenté d'installer le driver via le .run obtenu à partir du site de nvidia, sans succès. Aussi, quand ma machine se bootait avec un driver nvidia sélectionné dans "Additional Drivers" de "Software & Updates", je n'arrivais pas à lancer nvidia-settings : il semblerait que malgré mon installation, ma machine n'arrivait pas à charger les drivers nvidia.

Je suis actuellement de retour avec nouveau sauf qu'il ne fonctionne plus correctement. Dès que je fais des actions un peu demandeuses graphiquement (afficher des images, lire une vidéo) il freeze au bout d'un certain moment (c'est variable). Les logs ne semblent pas indiquer quoi que ce soit d'alarmant. Le son continue d'être joué en malgré les freezes vidéos.
