Nouveau disque dur
Bonjour,
Je viens d'acheter un nouveau disque dur HDD et je voudrais via USB installer Ubuntu. Est-ce que cela marcherait sans problème ? Dois-je faire d'autre manip sur le disque ?

Bonjour,
Ce serait utile de donner le nom complet du modèle de l'ordi dans lequel tu souhaites installer Ubuntu. Motif : s'il s'agit d'un modèle très récent, la version 18.04 de Ubuntu serait certainement un meilleur choix mais si c'est un modèle plutôt ancien, c'est probablement la version 16.04.1 de Ubuntu qui serait la plus adaptée à mon avis.

Bonsoir,
Il s'agit d'un laptop DELL Latitude e 6410 - 6 GB de mémoire
Le disque donne de sérieux signes inquiétant, perte de donnée, bruit ... de taille 160 GB que je vais remplacer par un 500 GB si j'y arrive ...

On peut voir ce modèle Latitude E6410 dans la Liste des portables « Dell ». je te conseille d'essayer puis d'installer Ubuntu 16.04.1 64 bits qui me semble plus adapté que la version 18.04 pour ce modèle pas tout frais. Tu peux réaliser une LiveUSB équipée de cette version en suivant ma recette : https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.p … #p21556450
Si tu parviens à démarrer ton ordi sur la live LiveUSB avec le choix "Essayer Ubuntu" ("Try Ubuntu" si c'est en anglais), je te prie de faire un Boot-Info et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.

il faut aussi que tu achètes un clavier, un écran, une carte mère un processseur etc.........
Et un câble pour brancher le disque.
Il n'y a plus que deux modèles de disques 3,5 pouces et 2,5 pouces
Si l'emplacement est prévu pour du 2,5 pouces, tu ne pourras pas y insérer un disque de 3,5 pouce même en utilisant un gros marteau
Si l'emplacement est prévu pour du 3,5 pouces, il n'y a aucune difficulté à insérer un disque de 2,5 pouces. Cependant, il est conseillé d'acheter un dispositif pour le caler afin qu'il ne vibre pas lors de son utilisation.
Si l'emplacement est prévu pour du 3,5 pouce et que tu as acheté un disque de 3,5 pouces' tout va bien. Idem en cas de 2,5 pouce.
Si tu as acheté un disque externe, le plus souvent, il est autoalimenté électriquement par le câble USB
C'est généralement suffisant pour un disque 2,5 pouces qui sont conçus pour ne pas trop consommer de watts mais c'est systèmatiquement insuffisant pour un disque de 3,5 pouces
Dans l'ensemble un disque dur neuf n'est plus formaté. Il me semble que ubuntu prévoit très mal ce cas.
Tu as intérêt â lancer GPARTED et fabriquer toi-même la table de partition qui est souvent de type MS-DOS, mais je te conseille le type GPT qui est actuellement en vogue pour les disques de grande capacité et obligatoire si le disque fait plus de 8 TO. Sinon, tu perdrais de la capacité de stockage.

On voit dans le Boot-Info que tu as Linux Mint 18.3 et Linux Mint 19 installés sur ton disque actuel. Est-ce que cette dernière version de Linux Mint a pu fonctionner de façon satisfaisante quand tu l'as installée ? Si oui, comme cette version est basée sur Ubuntu 18.04, il conviendrait peut-être que tu installes Ubuntu 18.04 au lieu de Ubuntu 16.04.1 que je t'ai proposé dans mon post #4.

Oui LM19 fonctionne bien, et avant LM19 j'ai installé Ubuntu 18.04 et cela fonctionne tellement bien que c'est la raison pour laquelle je voudrais l'installer définitivement de façon plus confortable sur le prochain disque. Maintenant quant je vais recevoir le nouveau DD je ne sais s'il faut formater avant ou Ubuntu le fait,, et en mode UEFI ou LEGACY ou ou ... ou ... pfff . Je ne suis pas nouveau sur Linux mais je suis un pépé qui se faufile dans le monde informatique

Tu peux laisser l'installateur faire le boulot automatiquement en sélectionnant "Effacer le disque et installer Ubuntu" à l'étape "Type d'installation". Par contre, je te recommande de NE PAS cocher les cases "Chiffrer la nouvelle installation de Ubuntu pour la sécurité" et "Utiliser LVM pour la nouvelle installation de Ubuntu". Le partitionnement sera fait automatiquement avec création automatique d'une partition racine qui occupera la quasi-totalité de la place sur ton nouveau disque dur et création automatique d'une partition swap. Si tu n'as pas l'intention d'installer d'autres distributions en plus de Ubuntu 18.04, ce choix "Effacer le disque et installer Ubuntu" est pertinent. Par contre, si tu souhaites ajouter d'autres distributions, je te conseille de faire une installation manuelle - en sélectionnant "Autre chose" à l'étape "Type d'installation" - avec création d'une partition de partage de données.
