Partitionnement avant installation

Bonjour,
Je dois modifier les partitions avant l'installation et je suis face à la situation suivante:

partitions

/dev/sda1 fait environ 300Mo donc je suppose que c'est la partition d'amorçage. /dev/sda2 fait envron 450Go et utilisé à hauteur de 20%. Windows est installé dessus. Intuitivement, je dirais de couper /dev/sda2 en deux. Puis de formater le moitié vide en ext4 avec le point de montage / pour y installer Linux. Et enfin choisir /dev/sda pour installer le secteur d'amorce avec le GRUB.

Par ailleurs, je pense pouvoir laisser de côté /dev/sda3 et /dev/sda4 car elles doivent servir pour la restauration de Windows c'est ça ?

Mais bon, c'est la machine d'une amie qui veut se mettre au manchot... Donc je préfère vérifier avant pour être sûr de ce que je fais et éviter de me faire appeler Arthur XD.

Bonjour,
Pour qu'on ait des infos supplémentaires, je te prie de faire un Boot-Info depuis une session live de Ubuntu (de la version de Ubuntu que tu souhaites installer) et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-Info dans ta réponse.
Ce serait utile également de donner le nom du modèle et le fabricant de l'ordi.

4 partoches seulement ? Windows semble etre installé en mode legacy.

Si oui il ne suffira pas de réduire sda2, il faudra aussi supprimer une des 4 partoches.

Le boot-info demandé est donc bienvenue

A vue de nez
sda1 = partition de boot Windows
sda2 = partition système Windows (le C)
sda3 = partition "outils constructeur"
sda4 = partition de restauration

Bien sur les 4 partitions principales sont toutes utilisées sans qu'il n'y ait de partition étendue - tu ne peux donc plus créer d'autres partitions (réduire Windows te laiiserait un espace non alloué inutilisable).
Moralité : il faut supprimer une des partitions existante avant de tenter une installation (de préférence sda3 car tu pourras récupérer de l'espace supplémentaire à partir de sda2.

Ok. Je pourrai donc récupérer une partition principale en supprimant sda3. Donc ça me fera un peu d'espace libre. À ça j'ajoute de l'espace libre supplémentaire en réduisant sda2.

Par contre, j'ai encore une question. Les partitions Linux-Swap ne compte pas dans le nombre de partitions principales utilisées/créées ? Je pourrai en créer une même en ne supprimant que sda3 ?

Tu créera une partition étendur dans laquelle tu peux mettre un très grand nombre de partitions logiques.
A priori il ne semble pas y avoir de limite au nombre de partitions logiques - un peu comme le nombre de poupées russes que l'on peut empiler.

une partition swap est une partition tout come un chat est un chat. Sous 1804, tu peux créer un fichier swap plutot qu'une partoche, ça vaut ce que cela vaut.

Mais dans ton cas tu n'as droit qu'à 4 partoches dites primaires, hors elles sont prises, donc t'en supprimes une et comme dit Nasman, t'installera ton système dans une partition étendue qui contiendra des partoches dites logiques (jusqu'à 1023).

Avec l'installateur en choisissant "installer à coté de win", il s'occupe de tout si :
- il y a au moins 3 partoches primaires sur le disque et bien sur suffisamment d'espace non-alloué.

Donc, si je comprends bien, avec l'espace libéré, je créé une nouvelle partition primaire pour commencer.

Ensuite, à l'intérieur de cette partition primaire, je peux créer autant de partitions logiques que je veux pour mettre Linux ? Et même me payer le luxe de créer une logique pour le point de montage /, une autre pour le /home séparé et une dernière pour le swap ?

(Je sais je demande des vérifications et je pose des questions "bébêtes" tout le temps mais mon expérience m'a appris à être prudent big_smile)

Et pour l'emplacement du secteur d'amorce et le grub, je lui dis /dev/sda tout court ou je dois préciser /dev/sda1 ? Je sais jamais...

Peux tu me dire d'où vient ce maximum de 1023 partitions logiques ?
Je sais que Windows limite le nombre des partitions du fait des 26 lettres possibles de l'alphabet.
La structure des partitions logiques avec les ebr emboités ne semble pas avoir de limite au nombre - mais je suppose qu'il peut y avoir une autre limitation

EBR1 (partition étendue)
     sda5 première partition logique
     EBR2
          sda6 deuxième partition logique
          EBR3
               sda7 troisième partition logique
               EBR4
                    sda8 quatrième partition logique
                    EBR5
                         sda9 cinquième partition logique

C'est une partition étendue que tu crées, c'est elle qui contient les partitions logiques.

Mais pour ce faire il te faut supprimer une des 4 partitions primaires existantes.

En complément du post de lucmars, je précise que la partition étendue est à créer à l'aide de Gparted - l'éditeur de partitions à utiliser depuis une session live de Ubuntu - en sélectionnant "Partition étendue" dans le champ "Créer comme" :
